Where is the rule regarding Redraw? From what I checked, there was only one withdrawal from each event. Since when has unseeded KOR players have such clout to give BWF extra work? In MS, only LHI withdrew and that was enough reason to merit a redraw? If that is the logic, BWF would have to practically redraw every tournament. By the way, HKO have more withdrawals than CO, is there any redraw? It s like LYB dangled an invisible sweet to someone in BWF because the original CO draw for MS was a horror to CHN MS ( with CJ likely to exit in QF) and CO is critical for CHN MS to maximize their ranking points and BWF only have to close one eye just this once. Do you smell a rat or two or three or four? BWF is turning out to be a Badminton Wreaking Federation. No sports federation is more despicable than BWF.

Was the redraw made behind closed doors, I wonder?

In other sports, the doing draw is an exciting event, televised worldwide for all to see.

BWF could (like they live-stream their matches) live-stream the way they conduct the draw (for all of us to witness). By doing so, everyone would know if it is a fair draw or not.

No, no, both are worthless, except if you care about official voice (which have not much to do with truth!).

Very funny! Though I must say CNN is junk, but not as much 'supervised' then China Daily.
By the way, some are TV and others are News agency or paper. Not the same category.

I just can not understand why everyone always blames China. C'mon, guys, it is not fair for China at all. Why China is only allowed to have two players? Let the best player play the Olympics, that's fair to every athlete.

Grow some brains, guys. If you think Olympic is an event for each individual athlete, then why limit China? Top 16 seeds can play Olympics, even China has 8 players are in top 16.

If you think Olympics is an event for countries, then China has every right to do whatever is the best for China. PERIOD.

You guys are so hypothetical. You can not just blame China will badminton is setting constraint on Chinese players.

One day, China may not care about the world badminton committee. They will just play their own badminton in China, like NBA, and only the best badminton players from other world will be drafted to play in China.

I can totally understand if LD skip these kind of tournament. Why should he play for free? He is already said he needed motivation.

I guess at this point, he only cares about Olympics, and maybe some responsibility to play for China for Thomas cup.

Yes, but most of the fan are not happy not when he skip tournament, but when he enters, plays two rounds and gives way in the quarters or semis.
As for the OLY, it is by countries, no way we can reform that. So why BWF is not also by country? Because BWF is a different organization then the Olympic, its goal is not the preparation of the OLY (which is only accessory), but to organize tournament for individuals.
There is a specific tread devoted to this question on this forum ; there you have many pages of all the arguments pro and con.

When talking about the Olympics, it is now an entertainment sports event for our worldwide audience.

If there are too many CHN Badminton players involved, and not enough of other players from other countries, Badminton will not be included at the Olympics in future.

Just think of Cricket, a sport that Australia is good at. Australia always wished for it to be included in the Olympics, but USA, Russia, China and many other nations said 'No' for Cricket to be included; For they know that this sport is dominated by just a handful of countries.
