I took 7 colleagues to try bubble tea last week, and there were obviously varied opinions.
Two really liked it, one thought it was ok, and the others said it was like drinking / eating frog spawn!!!

    It's a bit expensive here at £3, I think

    Hot lemon tea

Have you ever tried hot or cold lemon tea?

For some strange reason, I was practically living on the stuff whilst nursing the flu recently. For your information, it is not Lemsip!!

I have been experimenting making it fresh and just microwaving Lipton ice tea and adding honey when I am lazy :p Incidentally how do those cafes and tai pai dong hawkers in HK make it?

I'm glad that you tried to introduce this to others. I thought "taste" on foods and drinks are very personal. Not many guys are as smart as you are who "love trying new foods etc.(with reason)".

By the way, sometimes "taste" are acquired. BTW, those who didn't like the frog spawn are non-Asian origin, aren't they?(This imply that you might want to bring them to take those frog spawn again, in order to try acquiring the taste:D :D :D hehehe!)

There was only one person of asian origin at lunch, and she was one that didn't like it......She only had one "bubble"! lots of "bubbles" were added to my glass as lunch progressed, as I insisted they shouldn't be wasted!

There were some really nice flavours there, as well. I think they are due another visit this week! Is there any specifically HK food (or just any interesting dishes) that I should try, (I don't eat onions)

    Hi wizbit,
1 Sorry to know about the flu. Do those nasty flu attack you often and coming back again and again or just one off?
I learn from SARS that flu is mainly caused by "virus" and the best formular for flu is "Vitamin c + Zinc + rest". There are medical report(with control group) that taking high doze of "C+Zinc" will speed up recovery time by almost 40-50%. There's dissolvable lemon drink for formular "C+Zinc".
(Please double check if you are allergic to pets. You know Takumi has a lot of hair with micro dust that could easily affect the respairatory system, a hepa air cleaner might help)

2 we have no luck with HK cafes/"tai pai dong" lemon tea because:

3 Our most authoratative tea specialist Mr. Tan has actually spelled that out:
4 To sum up: best, hot or ice, lemon tea, in my humble opinion with practical experiences, should be made with real tea leaves(lipton tin can or Earl Gray) infused with hot water. While the tea is still very hot, put a few pieces of lemon(must be Sunkist) such that the aroma of the "lemon oil" from the skin will come out. Sorry a lot of Vitamin C is dead(that's the reason for paragraph 1, you treat yourself with good lemon tea but you treat the flu with C+zinc lemon mix)!!!

5 It's your preference to add your sugar, honey or crashing the lemon but the best that I like is fresh tea without sugar/honey with uncrashed lemon.:D Most important thing is following Mr. Tan's recommendation of "hotwater+good tea leave". Want to make ice-lemon tea; same but make lemon tea stronger and add ice.

Wow RedKJ you have a very good memory. I was a bit shocked at first that you know about my cat, but then I remembered I posted his 'baby' photo here some time ago.

I am suffering from some allergy here, I suspect it is carpet + dust mites/mould, even before the cat moved in, it does come back every now and then, sometimes it makes me very ill, ..but there's not a lot that can be done at the moment. The taste of hot lemon tea fed to you, when you are wrapped up warm in bed when it is freezing outside makes you feel loved and appreciated, so every now and then, it's not too bad to be ill :D

Thanks for your advice, in fact I just brought my Air Cleaner/Ioniser back from Home, I hope it still works..

1 It seemed to me that your allergy is caused by those carpet + dust mites at home and in your office. Since you are in the fashion industry, you can expect those nasty dust playing happily around your nose. (Try to get a good mask in office(Kimberly Clark) + hepa air cleaner at home and in office(Sharp or National))
2 The best way to treat allergy is to identify and remove those that causing it. It took sometime to develop the allergy and it will take quite some time to recover naturally.
3 Even if it's not too bad to be ill, I think it's better off playing badminton and drink high tea at Ritz Palm Court or Savoy thereafter.
best regards to you and takumi

1 Please ask those who doesn't like "frog spawn" and the lady try "tangerine with lemon" in the bubble tea shop. Me and my wife like the taste very much. Very soothing.
2 After a very thorough thinking and discussion with my wife, I would recommend trying the following in London:

    a) Drink Chinese Tea, Dim Sum:to my surprise, I had excellent dim sum in London, far better than most that I took in HK(but must find the right place)
and better bring your own TKY tea.

    b) Peking Duck, that's the dish which really amazed me in London. We had very good observation; we asked the owner of the resturant how come they gave me the crispy "duck skin" while the next table got "duck meat". I was told that European doesn't like eating skin...and chinese only likes crispy skin with the peking bread :D :D :D :D :D What a good business: one duck can be sold 2 times(one=1+1)

    c) Crab Fried in Fisherman's Wharf Style.(HK Style) They deep fried the crab, garlic, pepper together. The fresh crab is so big that it's easy to eat the meat. Crab in London is so cheap, fresh....yummy... eat them up

    d) Gosh! It sounds like London gets better Chinese food than HK!!! Must go.(You need to do your research for the right place but I have never had probems finding good food in China Town:D )
