went to queensway to have my racket strung today. wanted to go chau beng but shop wasnt open so went to a shop that sells a lot of racket at the one of the corners on 2nd floor to string the racket. when i got back the racket, it was a TERRIBLE stringing job!!! some of the strings was loose and some tight. told him about it he insist its like that. at 25lbs the strings can just be moved side to side by simply pushing with the thumb and when looking at the racket, many of the strings was crooked. he still insisisted that its normal!!!! paid him took my racket, cut the strings and ask chau beng to restring( it actually opens at 230, i was early) dont go to that shop to have the racket strung, their normal is abnormal!!!!!!!!
Actually, the corner shop opp ChauBeng is a specialist tennis shop that has been around since I was a kid.... i would be surprised if your told me his string job was bad...
re altrealityActually, the corner shop opp ChauBeng is a specialist tennis shop that has been around since I was a kid.... i would be surprised if your told me his string job was bad... hey glad that you post this, actualy the shp i am referring to is a indian shop at the other end of second floor. he sells mostly badminton stuff. the one you are referring to is more towards tenis i think. ory for the confusion
Never heard of that Indian operated shop before.... Hmm.. are his prices good ? The Tennis shop people do awesome restrings..... he used to string rackets for pros, including michael chang. Anyway, I only trust a few people to string my rackets....usually players themselves.... Had a bad experience at Penisula as well... 24llbs felt like 20lbs....
Hi, The one you r saying is the indian shop? My freind string there, he says that his stringing is gd. Are we talking abt the same shop? if i am not wrong the shop is call gala. is it?
Heard some negative comments about Gala Sports, didnt had the courage to string my rackets there. Personally I do not string my rackets at Queensway because prices are not competitive at all (BG66=S$15-S$16?).
gala sports is at the fround floor. the one i went is at 2nd floor. the indian fella shutter between a shop called new link and the small little unit opp new link to string badminton rackets
that's horrible stringing job u had!!! Maybe u should have cut the strings in front of him to make him realise that he did a bad job and u r frustrated! It'll be good if u can recall the shop name or unit number... So all of us will not mistaken it...
fom what i know gala has a few fella stringing the rackets, some are good others are actualy learning on the job. just hope fr the best now i only go chau beng cos i know for sure he is the one stringing and no one esle. and he does a good job, racke return with solid feel with the strings and no scratches waht so ever n the racket
Has anyone tried stringing at Sports Interlink on the 1st floor near Gala Sports? I noticed that they do not stock any Yonex strings at all, seem that only Pacific and Ashaway strings are available.
Re Hi, Can u tell me which floor is the chau beng's shop? What is his shop name? What is the price ? ceng
shop name is chau beng. he opens at 230 daily. its next to the tennis shop. i string mine 68ti for 18. after the bad experience, price is no longer the main concern unless its like more than 5 dollars. 1-2 dollar is fine for a good job
stringing problem. I also kena this problem. But mind is on the 1st floor. The one that sells tennis and badminton next to each other. Most of them outsource nowdays. I gave up and decided to string myself. If you are at northern area, I can do it for you. Let me know. Chau Beng make too much money already. Always open late. rgds.
ExtremePower might be talking about GALA at the first storey...the 2ndstorey newlink stringing sux...his tying off knobt sux also...tested racket on a RA machine the 2nd day...drop at lease 2-3Lbs...requested for 28Lbs...which i dun think they strung it...tested and shows only 22.4Lbs...
just an update. collected the racket fromn chau beng today and play some singles right after. the tension i great!!! i have learnt my lesson. once you have found a good stringer, stick with it!!!!!!!!
I guess the indian shop you are referring to is newlink sports. Tried there before. Pretty bad experience in the service too. The indian chief keep staring at me String-ed at Chau Beng too. Good service but you gotta wait for your turn. Its more expensive too. So far the best is Paragon Sports (opp Newlink). Excellent service and they give free grip. If i'm not wrong, Yonex BG66 and a grip for $16. Pretty affordable considering a griip is $2-3.
