Question: How many times do you string your racket in a year? (it would be nice if this can be a poll) Qualifications: This including the number of times you send your rackets to shops to string + if you are a stringer, the numbers of times you string your own rackets in a year Stringing for others, for money, for business...etc... do not count. Only your own rackets. Here is how you determine the numbers: One time = one string job of a racket. Say, if you strung all 3 rackets in your bag tonight, that's 3 times. If you have 5 rackets, and you string them every 6 months, that's 5x2=10 times a year. Choices: A. Never (longer than 1 year) B. 1-4 Times C. 5-8 Times D. 9-12 Times E. 13-16 Times F. 17-20 Times G. 21+ Times ------------------------- For me, I am in E. I usually keep 4-5 rackets ready to play, and I usually string them every 4 months or so.
This is hard... I will say F or G. I have 3 rackets, and like to string them all together. I do this every 2 months or so...
as of right now its B just broke my string for the first time on my new racquet about a week ago oh well, it would also be B for last year to meh i guess i dont break strings as bad as most of you people. i think this year though it might have the chance of going into C or D. i only have 2 racquets that i mainly use as of now so not much.
B. I play for exercise and fun on Friday nights throughout the year and the string would normally last quite long. The current BG85 is showing signs of breaking soon - damages to point of friction between strings, hairy fibres. The last time I had the racquet restrung was in September 2004.
As of last year I only sent my racqs for restringing 6 times. Since I got 2 racquets during the half year. So it's C.
Mine is D (~12-13 times). I play appro. 6 hours per week ~318hours per year. I strung Yonex BG65 10kg~23pounds. So each BG65 lasts only for 26.5 hours of playing...:crying: Duration of each set is 15minutes, ~20-30 smashes. So each BG65 finishes after 2120-3180 smashes... => Be patient, do not smash, it can harm your racquet and your pocket.
My answer is B but I could be heading towards C cos I´ve changed my strings from BG-65Ti to BG-80 and they don´t last as long. I just broke my string ( BG-80) and I had it strung in mid desember so just over a month of play.
I think I'll be between C and D. I have 3 rackets. One of them I only restring 1-2 times a year. That one is my "old" racket, only used when playing with nylonshuttles, Bg65. The other two I bought last year (June and August), they are used with feathershuttles, and I have done 2 restringings each so far (BG80). Hope they will do with just one more/each until the summer. So since June -04 I've had 5 string jobs done, and hope it won't be more than 7 before June this year......might be more since I'll play 3 tournaments in February. /mats
You're pro competitive badminton player, ants? Or just too much money to spend? Not picking on you, just curious.
Of course i'm not a pro.. Not too much moey to spend either.. what would you do if ur strings breaks? You cant control it right?
A!! haha, being a student, I don't have the money to restring my rackets very often, but I guess that also depends on my playing time. I have been on and off badminton due to injuries and school work. So I haven't been able to break any strings since.uh..aug 2003. I used to play 4 - 5 times a week, 2hrs each time. I only play once a week(2hrs) now. :crying:
I only string them when the strings broke. When I played BG65: C (every 2 month => 6 times a year) with BG68Ti: G (around 2 strings a month => 24 a year) now, with BG65Ti: D (one string every moth => 12 strings a year)
One of purposes of this thread is to calculate the stringing cost you spend in a year. From the calculations above, you know the number of times you string a year, and then, you know exactly how much you spend on strings a year! Also, Just to see how often people play badminton (If you only play once a month, you probably won't need to restring your rackets; if you play 4 times a week, then you will certainly need to replace strings quickly)
"B" sad eh? In Canada its so damn expensive to get your racket strung. And its harder to find a quality stringer. So i only string it if its nessecary. I'm planning to restring my racket. But i dunno if i should go with bg 65 ti or bg 68 ti. The 68 is black and the 65 is blue. My racket is orange so black should match, but the strings are so much thinner. I snapped my bg 68 ti before already. And the back its says it best for controled players, while bg 65 ti is for controlled and hard hitters. Anyone have any recomendations?
