Zymax strings

I'm thinking of restringing Zymax 62 oe 65 as my next string. I want to try 62 but I don't want to restring within the month. So should I just go with 65? I usually string at 26, but I might go to 24 for the Z62.

 

What string you usually use at 26lb?

 

I usually string BG80

 

Then 24-25 lb would be a good start.

Haha... I'm impulsive but not that impulsive. Still waiting for more stock to arrive next week so that I can pick and choose the right spec for me.

The higher tension is on my current go to XP70 (83.9/297).

 

Had a go for the first time with red ZM65 @28lbs last night.
Man, when they say how this thing tends to 'bite' the shuttle, they really do bite! and the sound of the strings too is unbelievable..
ZyWeave rough texture makes tumbling netshots and slices effortless.
This string combined with the touchy feely feedback from the mx80, every hit felt like a mini firecracker.

Possibly have found my go to strings.

p/s: I wonder how these things will feel like at 30lbs. White zm65 is next.

 

Having tested the Zm67 again, this time at 30lbs on the Z-Slash, I can only recommend to everyone that you stay away from it. It's horribly dull, it's heavy, and it's bouncy. It really feels like a 28-29lbs Bg65.

There can't be so much difference due to color that the white is playable. I have the white Zm65 on my N90II, and while good, it's not exceptional considering the diameter (strung at 30lbs). A Bg80 is just as crisp, actually.
Not that I can really raise a finger then my go-to rackets (which I also used in today's matches) are strung with Bg65Ti (30 & 31lbs) and Vs850 (31lbs)

 

I would say zm65 is like the thinner gauge version of BG80/85 at first. Being a tad softer feeling than BG80/85 makes it a joy to play with the already stiff mx80.

As for the colour, I too agree they wouldn't be contributing to significant difference, but me personally, on personal preferences have used white strings for years because white shuttle marks on coloured strings kinda annoys me (borderline OCD here )

 

i totally agree. As i now have zm65 on two rackets and bg80 on one, zm65 feels a tad softer, with a little bit better power and repulsion and a louder sound ) I really find it hard choosing for myself which string to use. Tried NS-30 too, it's very much like bg80 with a bit harder feel.

 

Well different colors are often slightly different in terms of grip, and thus, repulsion as well. But when a string is as dull as the red Zm67, another color might be better but won't make enough of a difference to make it enjoyable.
Actually, I find the Zm65 to be rather similar to the first gen Zm67. That one I liked. Way crisper than the new edition, although it was not very durable.

 

I snapped by zm65 today, after just 2 games of light game, and 1 hard game... I strung it @ 26lbs on my mx70... does the color of the string affect the durability? because the one I snapped today is optic yellow.. I have tried the white same @26 lbs also and it lasted 1month and 2 weeks...

 

Possible, as most of badminton string fibers are naturally white, colourings would somewhat be another protective/destructive coating for the strings.

 

Woah, how did you break it so fast? Were there many mishits? I also had yellow zm65's strung at 26lbs but they lasted a bit less than 5 months. I'm currently using red zm65's also strung at 26lbs and they've lasted 1 month so far.

Nah, all you. I only play zy65 at tension a hair more than yours and they last a long time.

I have the opportunity to string with either a Zymax 65 or BG 66UM at 24x26. I currently play with plastics. Which would be a better choice? I have heard that ZM65 has more durability.

Are zymax considered a hard string? I much prefer pg65 and micropower at the moment, which I believe are soft.
