Sunday CCC CATS at MSAC on 19-Jan-2014 (A Short Report)

Here is a short report for our Sunday CCC CATS at MSAC on 19-Jan-2014, our 3rd CATS this year.

We thank trainees for removing themselves from our 'Booking List' when unable to attend; therefore opening up vacancies for new trainees wishing to join us.

Reminder :
If you are unable to attend, kindly remove your name ASAP so that others can replace you, otherwise you will be fined. Why? Because there could other CCCers wishing to attend (checking to book in - up to the last hours), but finding themselves missing out after we have FULL HOUSE. And MSAC charges the court fees if we cancel our courts within 24 hours before our session starts.

Trainees are now to begin ALL warm-up drills with these 2 strokes :-
(1) "Low Service"
(2) "Net Return"
and then, continue with the other strokes of our set drills. Why? Because we need to train more on these first 2 strokes in a rally.

For this CATS, we worked on :
Chapter 3 Services - (on Doubles Low Service).

Some points to remember:
* Know not only the Laws of Badminton, but also understand why they are laid down.
* Know why the 'Backhand Service' is better than the 'Forehand Service'.
* Produce flatter trajectory with higher 'point-of-impact'.
* Produce more accuracy with simpler stroke production; Although many trainees are new to the 'pushing' method taught.
* Apply correct grip to control the 'shinning'.
* Better 'feel' when thumb and the 'point-of-impact' is closer.
* etc, etc, ......

If trainees are still not understanding the lesson taught, please ask me questions next session (to give you info/demo that you require).

* We welcome Shaji-S (from our Wednesday Night Social Games Session) attending his first CATS.

Some points to remember:
* Use the 'footwork' that allows weight transfer into the shot.
* Count your 'footwork' movement.
* Apply correct grip to control the 'shinning' of the racket-head.
* Get your elbow to lead the stroke.
* Hit with flatter trajectory at higher 'point-of-impact'.
* It’s 'wrist-rotation’, not 'shoulder-rotation'.
* Produce more accuracy with simpler stroke production, although many trainees need to strengthen their wrists.
* Know when to do the clear, dropshot and smash.
* etc, etc, ......

Sunday CCC CATS at MSAC for 02-Feb-2014 (41°C)

Don't worry Janice,

Because it's going to be a very hot day (41°C), we shall be training our softer strokes with lighter/little footwork.

I am thinking of doing Chapter 9 Pushshot – (for Doubles), which we haven't done for a long, long time.
