I don't know any badminton club in LI (I work in LI so it would be nice to have one). I guess the closest for you would be in Flushing. See locations and hours => http://newyorkcitybadminton.com/?page_id=2462

Hey dude, nothing is free in NYC ;-)
More seriously, I don't know any free badminton place in NYC. I know there are cheap places in NYC and NJ but they don't advertise because they don't want too many people to show up... so you must know someone who knows and is willing to give the details.

There is a place I know is free in NYC, since it is free, very very very cloud, It is belong to Non profit UEAA under YMCA. Open only Wednesday from 6:00 pm to 8:45 pm. There is no game, only 15 minutes in court. This place is in MS131 basement gym.

    Badminton in Brooklyn Heights

Casual Badminton with a World Class View.

A few of us are playing badminton on Saturday and Sunday mornings at Pier 2 of Brooklyn Bridge Park, and we're seeking other interested players to join us. We are co-ed, and players of all levels are welcome.

    Days: Sat, Sun
    Time: 9 am
Location: Pier Two, Brooklyn Bridge Park
We generally play for about an hour.

We play on the handball courts. There are no nets, no keeping scores. This is strictly casual playing with the goal being to prolong rallies and get some exercise in a fun way. Weather permitting, the conditions are generally pretty good for playing since there is a covered roof.

If we have spare racquets if you are interested in trying this out without making equipment investment.
If we have enough players, I'll buy portable net for our games.

    You can access Pier 2, Brooklyn Bridge Park via a 10 - 15 minute walk from the A, C, F trains .
And on Sunday, you can always go sample Smorgasburg when we are done playing.

PM me for more information or questions.
