There should not be tennis elbow in badminton. If there is, then it's due to one or more of the following errors in technique.

    1. Overly tight grip of the handle, causing the foream extensor muscles to overly tighten.

Solution: use a loose grip and grip handle in the *fingers* as much as possible, not the palm like in tennis. Tighten only upon impact.

    2. Overly large handle, causing #1. I can't tell you how many times I've seen players put a thick towel grip or replacement grip on top of their already large G4 or G3 handle... without even removing the original grip! What they end up with is a handle that is the size of a tennis racket. This will prevent proper technique in #1.

Solution: get a properly sized handle, and remove original grip if using towel or replacement grips.

    3. Overly extended locked out elbow, causing shock and forces to be transferred into the joint.

Solution: yes, you should reach out and up as far as you can to take the shot, but never ever to the point of locking out the joint. That would be asking for trouble.

    4. For any power shot, always lead with the elbow first, ie. whipping action. Especially backhand, but also applies to forehand. If you don't, then you're not properly using forearm pronation and supination, which will lead to elbow problems over time.

Follow these 4 basic technique rules and you should never ever get tennis elbow in badminton.

Yeah, something like it. That'll work. Mine is an old, Victor sleeve. Shorter n thicker than the 2XU.

Just wondering, when wearing those sleeves, will it be harder for you to put power to your shots?
I tried wearing it previously and I just feel that my shots don't have any power in it.

The sleeve acts to prevent u frm tearing ur muscle near the elbow (aka tennis elbow). To a certain extent, u will feel like ur elbow is kinda locked a little bit. But this is all to prevent the said injury.

Initially, I feel inhibited as well but aftr some time adjusting to it, am fine. Just give it time...

Don't get one of those thick type. I seen from NIKE, LP and even Adidas but they are not really for badminton. Get one of those which is thin and yet hold firm. If you can go have a look at Phtien's sleeve and get a rough idea.

It's a matter of preference...thin sleeve wont inhibit the elbow as much as thick one. But thicker, shorter sleeve offer more focused support on the elbow. That is most crucial to prevent injury...

There's a really good video of Fu HaiFeng demonstrating a power smash on YouTube. He also explains what not to do to avoid injury which unless I'm not mistaken was referring to the elbow.

    Best to have a look.

    Cheers
