Why's that, Mark? I know it's a strange question that you might not be able to answer, but I'm curious about why Shin stands out for you.

Kashyap Parupalli beats home favorite Jan O Jorgensen in straight sets to set up a SF clash with Chen Long.

O/T, but it's kind of because he doesn't stand out:).

I enjoy his "smooth" hitting style (not just because it's like mine;)), his defence and angles are outstanding, he has fantastic touch at the net, and his forehand "cut" dropshot... wow.

Only thing he lacks is overhead power, which is why he is constantly piling into the net:D.

Full of surprises happened yesterday, big blow for home fans as their three faves Jorgensen, Fischer/Pedersen and Pedersen/Juhl failed to progress into semifinal. The other highlight was Incheon AG Gold medalist Ahsan/Setiawan lost to unseeded Fu HF/Zhang N also defending champion, tournament top-seed Bao YX/Tang JH succumbed to Kakiiwa/Maeda. Another title contender conceded walkover, Zhang/Zhao.

Can't believe JOJ. Home crowd and he had a week's rest, too, remember.

Cool. Good one. I like your explanation that it's "because he doesn't stand out". I find myself doing similar things.

Oh, so Kashyap stunned JOJ in front of the latter's home crowd. Actually, I wasn't entirely surprised by that, have half a mind yesterday that the possibility couldn't be ruled out although on paper JOJ appears to be the favourite after all the hype. Hmm...I think he'll much prefer to go down to Lin Dan instead but, well, life is just so unpredictable, nothing is certain, always expect the unexpected.

    Excellent job ,Kashyap.

    Of course, I meant a day's rest, not a week's.
