Hello bc I recently purchased a pros pro shuttle express badminton stringing machine. I've been stringing at least 20+ string jobs already and I feel like the tension isn't what it really is. I use the flying clamps that come with the machine and I start the mains like this: https://youtube.com/watch?v=SZpSbco7U-c
Sorry to ask an OT question, but Exert where did you get your machine, and Fidget what machine do you have?
I have a Silent Partner "Crump" crank. Made sure to check the tensioner setting against a gauge before starting out.... and probably time to recheck again.
Because when I string it hm for example I string bg 65 ti on my z slash, 27 x29 it feels like 23 lbs so I tried 29 x 31 with zymax 67 and it felt really loose as well rather than a stiff string bed...
The simplest way if you have any of the handheld digital luggage scales, is to attach strings to both ends, put one end in a fixed clamp or tie it to a head post, then the other end into your crank, then crank until it stops. Compare the reading on the scale to what you are expecting. It is possible that the spring is loose in the crank, which can cause a low tension.
Couple of things, the guy in the video is not starting the mains ideally, he is using flying clamps on slack string and then starts the other side, this will lose tension and the tension pulled will not be accurate once he lets go of the tension and uses only the flying clamps. I have Yonex flying clamps, they are better than the default ones that come with the pro pro shuttle stringing machine. They only cost £15 or so not in UK. Also as others have said, use a fishing scale to calibrate the machine to double check. Kwuns video is a nice way to start mains if you want, he also explains the difference between Yonex flying clamps and other ones. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-n-FVyFilQ BTW this is how I start my mains with flying clamps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GN0RDEcSMz4 My machine is a dropweight though. Hope this helps. Kindest regards, -Ajay- Quote of the Day I hope that while so many people are out smelling the flowers, someone is taking the time to plant some.
That video by Kwun helped me out, as did several of his other videos. For this method, I have a tip that got from an excellent stringer: If you place the clamp directly against the frame and pull tension, it may damage the paintwork. You can prevent this by taking an old bit of grip tape, folding it in half, and cutting a slit in it. Put the grip tape between the clamp and the frame, with the string threaded through the slit. When you pull tension, the grip tape protects the frame from cosmetic damage.
I started out using that first method for starting mains, but found Kwun's method lost less tension for the centre mains. Also it's definitely worth getting a digital scale and calibrating your machine properly. My Shuttle Express was about 5lb off when I first got it.
I would start like kwuns video but only have two clamps going to get more soon, where can I buy a digital fish scale for cheap?
Try ebay and look for luggage scale or digital luggage scale. Usually only a few dollars. I have a couple that are made by WeiHeng and one looks like the Eagnas one. I compare them to each other from time to time and to my Wise.
Alright thanks, okay I'm pretty sure machine is off by ALOT kwuns method worked with 1 clamp on the end instead of two & I tried 31x33 and frequency still not over 1000 LOL going to have to order one soon thanks everyone for their input
I have a similar one to this: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/50Kg-5g-Digi...303?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2edbbbac77 I even took the liberty to search Ebay Canada for you so you can get an accurate price Kindest regards, -Ajay- Quote of the Day The intelligent man finds almost everything ridiculous, the sensible man hardly anything.
