It all depends with LCW's mental toughness now if he can go back to the top level. Physically, 8 months of absence in competitive tournament maybe good for him, but he may find himself struggling in first few tough matches.

Nevertheless, I'm happy to see him play again in BWF tournaments. I hope he can qualify in Rio, comeback stronger, beat them and eventually get the elusive gold medal. I can't imagine badminton without LCW... yahoo!

I think MS has become more competitive nowadays. Not always we can expect all these 3 will reach finals hereafter. Lindan, Chen long both of them lost to many players outside. Not 100% guarantee that these players will reach finals hereafter. If LCW arrives, let's see how many players are very well prepared this time.

I think Srikanth , Kento Momota both of them are really good , so that we can expect more exciting badminton ahead.

Since Victor is the team sponsor and this is a team event the answer is quite obvious I guess.

Seems pretty crazy that with all the strict rules of doping that he would take untested capsules mixed up in some backstreet chinese medicine shop given to him by a mate. From what I read it was the gelatine casing that had the dexa in it. What a plonker. Good that he is back though. Wonder if it was these cordyceps that was what Razif had been referring to.

Yes, and also shows how crazy easy it is if you want to sabotage an athlete.

LCW will participate in his first ever US and Canada Open of his career. Surely a good news for folks in Canada and US ;)

KUALA LUMPUR: Former world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei can forget about playing in the next two Superseries tournaments – the Australian Open from May 26-31 and the Indonesian Open from June 2-7.

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) had to turn down Badminton Association of Malaysia’s (BAM) request to field Chong Wei because the closing dates are over.

“I spoke to (BWF secretary general) Thomas Lund and he explained that there are procedures to follow. The closing dates for both tournaments had ended ... we were just trying our luck,” said BAM technical director Morten Frost.

But trust Frost to come up with a back-up plan to help Chong Wei improve his world ranking, which has plunged to 45th.

“We will now register him for the back-to-back US Open and Canada Open. He has never competed in these tournaments before ...,” said the Dane.

The US Open, which is a Grand Prix Gold tournament, will be held in New York from June 16-21. The Canada Open is a Grand Prix tournament and will be held in Calgary from June 23-28.

Although Friday is Labour Day, Chong Wei will be hard at work at Stadium Juara in Bukit Kiara as part of his preparation for the Sudirman Cup in Dongguan, China, from May 10-17.

It is also officially his first day back in training after serving a retroactive eight-month ban after he tested positive for dexamethasone at the World Championships in Copenhagen last August.
