Clash between youngsters in md final... Let see if ardianto can payback his final wjc lost to huangkaixiang
You may be right this time. I managed to watch all the matches live today. Wow I must say that till now I am so impressed with Lee Hyun Il. He won all his matches impressively. It is so difficult to believe that a 35 year old guy can win a match in single digit. That means there is still something in depth in him. Being an old player, he certainly has good stamina to play on. Very good indeed. He uses all his skills to win over his opponents at the court. Congratulations.
At the rate that Lee Hyun Il is playing now, I am very sure that he will be able to win the gold medals tomorrow. However, everything is just a prediction and anything can happen at the court tomorrow.
FINALS (12.00pm) => http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...85B01B-43DF-4F43-AF62-EB96BFFE03CB&d=20150503 Head to head statistics for all finalists are 0-0. XD, Zheng Siwei/Chen Qingchen (CHN) v Yu Xiaoyu/Xia Huan (CHN) These two Chinese pairs eliminated the higher seeded rivals at semifinal, top-seed Widianto/Dili and third seed Kido/Bernadeth, Yu/Xia also disposed second seed Chrisnanta/Neo earlier. Without their elites, CHN juniors and new scratch pair still did well here to beat some established combos. WS, He Bingjiao (CHN) v Saena Kawakami (JPN) Chinese rising star is favourite to win second GP Gold in this year after CHN Masters couple of weeks ago. He BJ will meet Saena Kawakami who disposed HKG #2 Cheung Ngan Yi at last four, a surprising outcome as this is second international tournament for the Japanese teenager after Osaka IC last month. MS, Lee Hyun Il (KOR) v Qiao Bin (CHN) The left-handed is former KOR #1 and his opponent is relatively late bloomer Chinese player. Well, veteran Lee Hyun Il still shows his quality, he demolished top-seed TPE Hsu Jen Hao at semifinal, pretty smooth path except quarterfinal when he needed extra game to beat China youngster Huang Yuxiang. Qiao Bin, the winner of China IC early this year, we'll see whether he can prove himself to beat real test here. WD, Yuki Fukushima/Sayaka Hirota (JPN) v Xia Huan/Zhong Qianxin (CHN) Both finalists didn't drop any game en route to the final, however Xia/Zhong is favoured to bag the title with their experience to play at higher level in SS circuit. MD, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto (INA) v Huang Kaixiang/Zheng Siwei (CHN) Young combos shine here as the frontrunners were sent packing and failed to reach finish line. It's gonna be interesting to see these two fast and aggressive pairs, hard to predict who will top the podium between China and Indonesia future MD.
Xia Huan has been very impressive. This is a total different person from the Xia Huan at Malaysia Open a few weeks ago. She seems safe for first team duties, but that forehand service? He BingJiao is head-and-shoulder above her competitors here. She presents an interesting dilemma for the Chinese team. HBJ is not learning anything new from GPG tournaments. But she may disrupt the master plan for Olympic preparation if sent to SS tournaments. Chen QingChen does not seem as sharp as she was in the past. I thought she would be more advanced by now.
A tentative start for HBJ, error-prone. Kawakami is a retriever and counterattacker. HBJ got to step up her attack and defence.
HBJ being outplayed so far by the retrieving ability and well-placed shots of Kawakami. But to attack well and maintain it throughout the match requires a lot of fitness, can HBJ do it?
G1, 16-21, gone. A sense of urgency and higher intensity needed in G2 for HBJ, and minimize those unforced errors. Actually, from the start of the tournament, HBJ's form hasn't been to good but today is the day she has to push and play herself into form if she is to succeed at the senior level. Developing endurance and fighting spirit is essential.
And HBJ is already panting, stretched by a remarkably stubborn defender who can throw everything back. It is a test for HBJ in many respects, hope she draws valuable lessons from it and work hard on her shortcomings.
Most of the shots that normally would have been winners for HBJ against her earlier opponents keep coming back, apparently she is unprepared for it and caught off-guard time and again.
I was wrong that HBJ has nothing to learn at the GPG level. She took her opponent too lightly like she did at QF. HBJ survived the QF but not today. Full credit to Kawakami, I watched her semi-finals performance which was solid. She is solid again today.
Kawakami is the winner, HJB stunned. Not totally unexpected for me, yesterday I already said HBJ's attack has to be penetrating and her fitness up to it in view of Kawakami's tenacious defence and retrieving ability against Cheung NY who was outrun and outlasted.
I venture to say, just improving HBJ's fitness alone will raise her game another level, and further strengthening her attack and defence would make her a formidable player, hopefully. For her age she has showed signs of composure and self-thinking ability though untested on big occasions, no opportunity for that yet.
