ROUND OF 32 (09.00am local time, 4 courts) => https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/matches.aspx?id=E4857758-9954-4BFC-BBE5-D24113FDE1DC Almost all MS seeded players through to second round except Chong WF (11th seed) who sent packing by former INA #1 Simon Santoso. Son WH pushed hard effort to eliminate Takeshita and today he will up against another Japanese MS, Nishimoto. Three intriguing ties and may spring upset in this category, Tanongsak v Mustofa, Vincent Wong WK v Qiao B, Ginting v Angus Ng KL.
Does anyone know what happened to Maneepong Jongjit??? He didn't play this year at all, his partner went to play with Bodin Issara. Poor Pakkawat Vilailak has been left without a doubles partner and had to play with an Indonesian guy Irfan Fadhilah (who usually plays XD)
Chinese promising talent, the left-handed He Bingjiao def. INA experienced WS Adriyanti Firdasari, 21-9 / 21-13. Next, on paper scenario it should be He BJ v home hopeful Busanan, their rivalry at junior stage continues here.
jongjit got injury earlier this year. he would be partnered with bodin for olympics (thai coach thought that this partnership has the best chance to get a spot in olympics for thailand), but unfortunately, got bad injury. that's why, bodin is partnered with nipitphon.
Are you sure? Bodin threw punches and started a brawl against Jongjit. Bodin went through a 6 month ban i think.
The independent pair Koo/Tan has bright prospect to progress into last eight. Son WH sluggish performance is still on as he's struggling against Nishimoto before took first game, 24-22.
yes, very sure. i used to live in bangkok, and some of my friends have confirmed this. bodin and jongjit have resolved their problems. that's why bodin has been called up to national team. nipitphon is part of national team.
indrg just got the news online by gugling Maneenpong and Bodin reunite with Olympic goal Maneenpong Jongjit and Bodin Issara will play together again in the men's doubles for the sake of the country, Badminton Association of Thailand (BAT) president Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul confirmed... Khunying Patama with Bodin, right, and Maneepong. The duo split after reaching the 2012 Olympic quarter-finals. Playing on opposing sides, they had an on-court brawl in Canada in 2013 and were suspended... link:http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/sports/464490/maneenpong-and-bodin-reunite-with-olympic-goal.
Shi YQ v Sitthikom, these two young guns involve in three games match, home MS ran out of steam at decider, 21-17 / 19-21 / 9-21.
Tanongsak has an on-court presence and bit of charm in him but his character his such a mismatch.Lifts so casually,no tactical soundness and defence made up of matchsticks.Smashes without any precision and no fightback attitude whatsoever.Very disappointed from him today.Really needs to change his mentality and bust his ass off in training or else disappointing losses will come and go and his career will go no further than Round 1 or 2.I think he has something in him but such a strange player he is.
Another early defeat for Tanongsak, this time he lost to INA young hopeful Mustofa, 16-21 / 18-21. But Thai veteran XD, Sudket/Saralee made bright spot here to eliminate recent AUS SS winner Reginald Lee CH/Chau HW in rubber games. So far so good for INA MS, Santoso, Christie, Kholik, Mustofa stepped up to last sixteen.
And here goes a summary of the round one result. The best performing country so far for this tournament would be Korea and I am very surprised too. All the Korean players have sailed through their first round and will be playing in tomorrow second round except for bae Yeon Ju who was a let down of the day. And to add salt to the wound, Bae Yeon Ju even lost to a young China WS which is very unusual. Then the next best performing country I guess for today would be Malaysia as all their players have sailed through to the second round of the tournament except for their MS players. Wow I am rather surprised too. Then the next best performing country would be China, Indonesia and Japan. But then again lets not forget that most of the Japanese players send for this tournament are really very young and good.
