Hi guys I'm new to this forum. I want to know what do you guys look at/think about when you are watching a game played by the professionals? How do you analyze it and how do you learn from it? How can you tell what strategies they are using?

I need to know this to improve my game because all I do when I play is to send the shuttle back to different angles blindly without any strategy.

    THX! :)

It you watch the recent Denmark Open matches, especially SF and F matches, the commentaries by Gill Clark and Steen Pedersen are very good to understand the tactics.

I'm not really a singles player so when watching singles games, I find myself paying close attention to the footwork of the player near you with their back turned. it's quite amazing to see how efficient they are. i look at how much some players keep their feet apart (some wider than others), how they adjust their base position, when they would use their backhand vs going around the head, how they launch to the net when seeing an opportunity to kill, etc.

    2. Hire a good local coach or coaches to point out and correct your mistakes. You can also consider joining badminton classes.

    3. Ask question here at this forum.

    4. Post video with yourself playing here and ask people for comments.

    5. Watch some tournaments.

    6. Repeat the cycle every week.
