1218 after 48 hours and 2.5 hours of smash drills and playing. Hope I break it tomorrow for something new. BG80 dropped just around 90Hz after 12 days and around 6 hours of training and playing, without PS!!! To be fair: the VS850 job was a 2 piece because of lazyness and dizzyness. I think I will give the 2nd set to a customer. Thank god, that I didn't bought a reel. From my memory MK1 was a really decent string, as I was young. No more Victor string for me. I think I will stick with Yonex until somebody invite my to the Gosen club.
Going old-skool for a bit - BG65Ti 32/33. 1405 off the machine, but that's with 10% and me - 180+ lb - waterskiing off it beforehand. The WISE really had to yank it; probably twice the draw of things like BG80 and X110.
You will hate it. The shuttles slide on it like hell. Fresh it's good, but on the 2nd session you wish it breaks. On a JS10 frame? Would explain the few Hz more.
I ordered it for a client and it didn't arrive in time, so I offered him some NBG95 instead. Arguably worse, but he's happy with it. The last time I played this stuff was before I even started stringing - maybe 24 lb with a week in the post. Turns out my possible X110 source has already stiffed one member on here, so I'm writing that one off for good. Need a new go-to, so it's back to testing!
BG66Force @20x20 lbs. on a clients RSL M13 Rage 200 racket, dropwheight, fixed clamps, 1-piece: 1106 Hz right off the machine. That's about 90 Hz higher than what I would have expected for a BG65 and still around 50 Hz higher than BG80.
1405 to 1375 after one hour on the 65Ti. That's 2%. In an hour. Ye gods, I might cut it before I use it, at this rate.
I did a break this week, because of an injury. My BG80 stayed constant in my bag and didn't drop 1 single Hz. VS850 dropped 32Hz in same condition and same time of rest. IMO an overrated string. Don't like this feel and the texture is far away from beeing rough. Maybe my waterskiing was too hard.
I strung my VT80 with G-Tone 9 30/33 without pre-stretch, using wise 2086. And I get 1342Hz immediately out of the machine. Do you think this value is correct? Thanks
lhkjacky Can't say that it's right or wrong, but you are IMO in an area which is reasonable. Sounds ok to me FME with NBG99 which is also 0.69 string. ZFII with BG65 @ 23/24 PS: 1124Hz.
Thank you for your quick reply Because I found that the base clamp / turn table of my stringing machine does move slightly after I release the string from the pulling machine. (May be around 2~3mm) I notice that when I pull the next string the base clamp will pull back slightly (around 1~2mm) but it does not back to the original position because of the friction of the grommet. So I think the tension of my racket should be lower than it should be. I have tried string a few rackets with 27/29 (10% pre-stretch), but it felt soft. So I cut all those rackets and string it with 30/33 (No pre-stretch) and I feel it is exactly the tension I want. And I measure the frequency it was 1342Hz (immediately out of the machine) I guess it is should be around 30lbs. (May be it have already drop to 29lbs or lower after I write this post, because I have turned the pre-stretch off )
You increased 3.5lbs which is around 1.5kg. So the job must feel much harder at the beginning. 30/33 is average 31.5 lbs. I clocked a bit over 1300 without PS with NBG99@30lbs, so I think you are in the 31-31.5lbs area.
Visor wrote a summary which is now up on the main site. Thanks Visor! http://www.badmintoncentral.com/bc/2015/11/03/monitoring-your-racquet-string-tension/
Tks Cheung ! Do you think I should re-edit the first post with this newer phrasing?
The very first post ? This forum doesn't do that because of difficulty with subsequent posts referring backwards in time.
