I thought Cheung had the dates for his trip? (He mentioned 17-21 June as his conference dates) I am fairly (100%!) flexible on dates. Partners- Cheung you know I have a partner dont you? she will definitley be coming if I do(actually the other way round!)-and it is looking good for me coming. Yes she plays badminton, but not crazy for it! Mag-I checked some websites for the sights of vancouver and it looks good. It wont be all badminton (I wouldnt be allowed that). it shouldnt take that much (although i dont know mrs Mag!) I just mentioned the mountains, sea, fresh air. and it was a winner......then I mentioned the badminton...oops. Saunas! ahhh...I love them. mods training clinic? *confused* I am 100% unqualified for that. I will be expecting a training clinics from you guys!!
If the mods could put on a training clinic for those of us here in Vancouver, that would be oh so incredible!!! Even if you aren't coaches, just showing the drills and strokes that you guys use to train over there would be extremely helpful!! It will probably be the locals that need the saunas more than you guys afterwards hehehe~ .
Vancouver has its resident badminton experts Let me try to confirm the dates first. Everything is quite preliminary at this stage
Disappointment news Hi, I am sorry but the intentioned trip won't take place :crying: . I had some problems getting further information about the conference i.e. the programme only would be available in May. E-mail to the conference organiser bounced back! My intention was to attend a particular workshop and I couldn't get any details about it (my department needed an answer for departmental planning). The alternative was to go to Oxford (UK) for a short course. So, in the end, I decided to try for Oxford. I should be there for a couple of weeks in October 2005
Wah, why you so like that? Nobody will dare to visit VRC. Perhaps only LB who may be better prepared, having experienced the 'warm' reception the last time. I think Cheung will be better received in Oxford by BFers there!
Lol... you get this right. Actually, I think i am more like mentally ready (more like for sushi and other snacks, though ), but not anywhere near to be physcially ready to take the entire vancouver gang.
Cheung, That's too bad. Wishing you would be able to come over. It's the trip definitely cancelled or still some hope?
Sorry, it's now out of my plans. It was a difficult decision. Most conferences in my field have a tentative plan of the programme out 9 months toa year beforehand. This conference only has their plan out a month beforehand. Apparently, the Canadian organisers always do this with their Annual conference. A poor show I think, but perhaps they do not really aim the conference towards international participants (so I have heard). Another thing was going to Vancouver allowed me to get a week off work, choosing Oxford gives me 2 weeks off - all official as well! (a minor point though. It was the lack of information on the programme that was the impprtant factor).
Speaking for the rest of the Vancouver BFers, we would have LOVED to have you here !!!!!!! Maybe next time ... -dave
Got that right Mag ! Nothing beats the good old Sauna (shouldn't you say bastu?) after a badminton session. Actually it helps you to recover from the training as well.
Going to visit Cappy75 tomorrow and catch some baddy action with him while I'm in V-city. I'll probably get the "LazyBuddy initiation treatment" from what I've heard. Looking forward to the eating also. mg27
Heh! I am sure you won't get the full treatment. The rest of the gang aren't prepared like they did when LB visit (LB warned us months ahead of his visit). Also, some of the BF gang will be away for tournament so you're safe. I will try to get more sightseeing into your iternary.
Heh! I think we should let mg27 tell us more about his experience when he get back home. We have been doing abit of sightseeing and only played on Saturday night.
