    Hello BC,

I was wondering if anyone has used the Hang Yu Tourney No 1 Shuttles.

How do they compare to Victor Champion No 1 and Yonex AS40s??

Used to use it lots due to good value for the quality. But over the past 2 yrs somehow their quality control is not up to par, and there would be some bad batches that would break easily or bend out of shape easily.

So now switched to Victor Champion No 1 and Master Ace.

    Thats unfortunate :(

I saw them on Yumo Pro Shop and I got a decent deal for them.

From what I know, the Champion No 1 use Top grade Duck Feather right?

I haven't used them lately, but when I did (3-4 years ago); not sure how their quality/price is at the moment but I remember them being pretty good.

Probably wise to just get a few tubes to try. Don't get a case and regret later.

Yep, Victor Champion is duck, whereas HangYu should be goose... but disappointingly, on close inspection, I do notice some duck feather mixed in.

    Damn What a shame... :(

I recently played with aeroplane blacks, and i was disappointed on how bad the quality of the shuttles are now..

I use HY no1 for 6 years now and run my groups with it, we burn through 6 tubes a week so have seen some fair share of bad days but overall still very satisfied and find it good value for the price.

    Cheers

    Wow... 6 Tubes/Week??

How long does a shuttle last for games? I find that the Victor Champion No 1 lasts 2 games to 21 most of the time.

HY1 is probably the best in quality and value in our area for the past 10 yrs. But I'm not the only one recently in the past 2 yrs experiencing some bad batches, and deciding to switch to Victor. Perhaps my supplier has been messing with me but I doubt it. Likely just QC issue.

Whereas Victor Champion No 1 has slightly softer feel but no problem with bad ones. Lasts just as long.

Recently we've been trying Victor Master Ace just out of curiosity. Very very consistent, nice crisp solid feel and most importantly even sturdier than Champion No 1. It is BWF sanctioned for international tournaments. In the end, even though it costs 20% more, cost per person remains the same because the birds last longer. For the feel and enjoyment at the same cost, it's a no brainer for us to switch.

Yes, we have a big group. In general, one bird per game for double, but for single it will last average a couple of games per bird. Judging by how long a bird last is very subjective, we have a couple guys could collapse a bird in a few smashes so it is hard to compare. But overall, we find the different brand comes down to similar performance given they are from same price range, it is really the matter of preference of the hitting feel.

I am assuming master ace is higher grade than master no 1?

Yes, it's the highest grade Victor shuttle. BWF approved.

How much do the Master Aces usually go for?

I would assume that the HangYu Tourney no 1 is about the same quality as the Victor Champions... same price point

I just got a notice the shuttle price (in Canada, or at least from my supplier) is going up because of the sliding Canadian dollars. Whatever brand and whoever you buy from; if they are still giving you the old price, stock up!!!!!

    Master Ace > Gold Champion?

Because the Gold Champions weren't that good.

For sure, Master Ace is probably equivalent to AS40 - 50.

Maxx is not bad though I find it light compare to Aeroplane Black.
