    Sony deserves to win it more than Son Wan Ho. He played a much better controlled game.

    Singapore Open Super Series has always been a favorite event for underdogs. Sony Dwi Kuncoro wins his 2nd Singapore SS title after a thrilling 3-sets victory over the younger and supposedly much fitter Son Wan Ho 21-16, 13-21, 21-14. He clawed his way from the qualifiers and won 7 matches altogether, en-route to the title. This matches Simon Santoso's victory 2 years ago, also winning 7 matches from qualifying rounds.

    Despite being pegged back 13-13 and then 14-15, Sony refused to throw the towel and found his last ounce of energy as he won the last 6 pts of the match. The last pt was being contested by Son to no avail though. Congratulations to Sony and his wife/coach/manager (Gilang Safitri) for his remarkable come-back story and he is still one of the best MS players INA has produced.

    So, Team INA is the overall-winner of the Singapore SS with 2 titles in MS and WD.

    @jma97

    I am going to be very honest with you. Just as much you would like to see Korea win the Thomas Cup 2016 I am telling you in a very honest manner that it will be extremely difficult. We need to face the realities. Currently as seen MS not so reliable. MD maybe can score 2 points but that is not even enough to pass the quarter finals.

    Incredible story and willingness from Sony.
    Who would've thought he could still produce something like this.

    Maybe Son WH thought Sony is tired and he just needed to keep the shuttle in play while waiting for attacking opportunities instead of seizing the initiative himself; wrong judgement, wrong strategy, the best defence is attack.

    The Old Airport Road BC crew discussed last night, whether having Lin Dan's wife at the coaching chair would work up wonders in a similar way ......

    Sony going for short rallies. He plays the tight net spins and waited for SWH to lift and he kills it with a smash.
    He knows with exhaustion, he can't rally with SWH.

    Zhang Nan has been putting a lot of his time, effort and heart into MD , at the expense of XD,for quite some time; hope it pays dividends today.

    Told you, right? The soft shots (including slower smashes) and net option works best. Forcing Son into errors when he had to addd momentum into his shots.

    No need - this is not the Istora or Bukit Jalil, and the wailing queen is not playing.
