Some ideas on how to stay fit during the summer so that you'll improve in badminton for September ... My ideas - running / jogging , skipping , weight training , eat healthy ( less junk foods and fast foods ) , practice footwork etc ... <- assuming that you don't have a court available . I don't really have a definate 'training schedule' as I'm going back to China and I really have no idea what each day might bring . ( I'll have to wait until summer and see what plans my family relatives have for me ... it really sux being a kid ) Please share some ways to stay fit during the summer or just your training schedule I'm sure there are many people , who , like me , needs some ideas to stay fit and ways to train over the summer . Anything helps ~! Thanks ~
your ideas are good, but definately the best thing would be sneaking a couple of games into your schedule hehe.
ta train ur muscles pour le lunging, play sum DDR (dance dance revolution....one of those arcade dancing games). U can buy the game/dance pad, so u dont hafta go to the arcade nd get laughed at by the proz. Play at home!
forgot to read something Since I don't really know where there are badminton training centres near the place I am going to , I can't really guarantee that I'll get to go on court at all ... but yes , a couple of games and drills would be effective as well ( if you can get a court ) .
wow ! What a unique idea ~ I've never knew dancing could help . Is "DDR" used to improve quickness or ... ?
yea. u could say it is used to improve ur quickness since it does build-up ur calf muscles. If u play a lot ova the summer nd dance to songs that r "heavy" or songs that r +8 feet, than u should b quite fit. (+8 feet = 8 steps on the screen at a time) U can do it!
Do Tae Kwon Do or Karate Do. The with the kicking movements, it's a great way of keeping your legs moving and maintaining the fast muscle fibres in your legs. Be careful not to kick anybody - you may get an injury and then cannot play badminton!
Don't know how to do either ... never done martial arts before . Would "pretending to kick someone" have the same effect as doing Tae Kwon Do or Karate Do ?
In my opinion, I think that the summertime is the best time to play badminton. ~.~ Although it is good to get some sunlight and enjoy the weather or even hang out with your friends, summertime seems to be least crowded in courts. This is probably because of the more popular sports such as football, soccer, basketball, baseball and etc. are going on all outside, leaving us the badminton players in the nice cool gyms^^. If you really want to be outdoors, I would definately play tennis^^.
unless you already play ddr at a high level, there is no point starting now... there are better ways to train your legs..... for me, i'm just spending the summer lifting weights and trying to get a bigger upper body.... oh, and be able to use the maximum setting on the leg press machine.... i'm almost there! =P
Nope. What the martial arts training gives you is learning how to coordinate your legs in a different manner. Obviously the effort you put in relates to the results you get. IN some traingin sessions, you are supposed to practice a kick moving your leg as fast as possible. Doing a combination of different kicks develops the muscle fibres very well.
oh I see ... can't do that then ... btw ~ if you live in an apartment or have stairs in your house or something , try running up the stairs as quickly as possible ( one steps at a time ) then coming down slowly so you won't fall . Try doing it a lot of times without stopping . It's much more effective than jogging as you are raising your legs when you move up the stairs
Iæve heard that weights Isn't that good, you get to heavy muscles..! If you don't live near a badminton court so is swimming pretty good.! Here in Norway I train badminton four times a week the hole summer
true ... some weight training doesn't effect badminton as much as others but I don't think they are actually bad for you ...
while technically, yes, it is true, i feel that it is also important to note that it is not as easy as one would think/hope to get big. It takes a lot of effort and time to get big.... weight lifting, however, is excellent if u want to just simply get stronger.. strength doesn't necessarily equal big muscles
weights training is important, as we require some bulk to give us the explosive power. but coupled with weight training, we need to do some cardio too. just make sure you arent too bulky
