LXR is only 24 now. If she is not burned out, sure it is very likely that she will go to Tokyo. I doubt if WYH is still around in 4 years. Sun Yu is too slow and can't last for 3 games. He Bingjiao doesn't seem to have the talent. Unless another new talented star appears, I think the chance of WSX going to Tokyo is very high.

Yes, Li Xuerui still have many more good years. As a most complete player and rated highest by Wang Yihan, LXR has a good chance of achieving a two-peat at Rio, and possibly a three-peat at Tokyo when she'd be 28 years old, the age WYH is at now. I'm heartened that her mental fragility issue is more or less under control lately but she must continue to work hard on her stamina, her only drawback at the moment.

He Bingjiao doesn't seem to have the talent ? I disagree, the opposite is true. She just needs more exposure and build up on her fitness and stamina.

Sun Yu is improving, slow and steady, and similarly needs to work on her fitness and stamina to maintain her strong attacking game to three games.

Wang Shixian , though she's not going to Rio, may hang on for another few years but I'm doubtful she can last until Tokyo 2020 as I believe a couple of her junior teammates aforementioned or others will outstrip her, forcing her to call it a day before then. WSX's game has not changed much, if any,and is unlikely to, almost all her opponents are familiar with her strengths and weaknesses, that's what I believe will hold her back, unfortunately.

Furthermore, I'm confident we'll soon see another one or two up-and-comers in CHN WS, Chen Yufei being already one of the most promising ones, and a new one may emerge any time to catch our attention. My 2 cents.

I am afraid she is not going to be selected, still hope so;). I hope she gets a chance but i know China is better of picking Wang Yihan or Sun Yu. Maybe i would choose Sun Yu in prospect for the future. She will have the experience for Tokio and will get better at time.

Still hoping for you Wang Shixian.:D

WSX is ill-fated for being a CHN player, or else we'd have seen her at London 2012 and certainly at Rio this year as well. Sigh. I really feel for her.

    To be exact it's 18th July 2016 http://bwfbadminton.com/2016/05/05/provisional-list-of-olympic-qualifiers-published/

Today’s (5 May 2016) Race to Rio rankings indicate the possible qualifiers for the Rio Olympics. However, the lists are provisional as several criteria have to be fulfilled, including the acceptance of National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of their quota places and allocation of the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Tripartite Commission Invitation Places. The final list of qualifiers will be published immediately after the deadline of 18 July 2016.

LXR tried her very best in every tournament. Which I don't see from WSX.

Err...does it really matter ? Let Wang Shixian continue to grace the background, she's lovely to watch , isn't it ? To me, her amazing comeback from the prolonged doldrums caused by her LOG'12 deselection was most encouraging and heartening to see, an excellent example, unparalleled and worth emulating, of what it meant to "never say die".

And not only that, how many times did she come back from what all-seemed-lost situations to save herself from the brink of defeat to win the set or match? Remember that unbelievable encounter with Nozomi Okuhara last year and recently with P V Sindhu in G2 of the Uber Cup'16 , just to name two occasions offhand ? Spectacular, staggering, can't get any better than that, in my humble opinion.

Guys, the battle is not over. I think they will look at the training of the players and the choose will than be made.

Wang Yihan showed a brilliant form last tournaments but she also lost bad to Carolina Marin and Nozomi Okuhara in 2015. I want wang shixian to go. Maybe not the best choose for a medal, but she is consistent and that's is something Wang Yihan is not.

If she weren't a China player, probably she would be a nobody in the world of badminton.
