So, Asia will have the same format as Europe. Mixed Team Badminton Championships for every odd-numbered year. Men's and Women's Team Badminton Championships for every even-numbered year. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Mixed_Team_Badminton_Championships https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Men's_and_Women's_Team_Badminton_Championships #BATC, #BAMTC, #BAC #EMTC, #EMWTC, #EC
I think the tournaments in February (in both Asia and Europe) are preliminary or qualification rounds for the events in May (Thomas/Uber or Sudirman). Incidentally, I think the Badminton Asia Championship (usually held in April) should be moved to late September or early October just like the Asian Games. And if there is a Asian Games in the year, the BAC should be skipped just like World Championships in a year of the Olympics.
True of the TUC preliminaries but the BWF rules say no such thing for the Sudirman Cup. Instead, it looks like they'll take anyone but only the top 12 teams by ranking will be put into Group 1. In fact, only Europe and Asia have mixed team championships scheduled so far for February. Africa has one on the books for April and Pan Am and Oceania have nothing on the BWF schedule yet.
wow, thanks. I have always thought the mixed team championships in February in odd-numbered years are preliminary rounds for Sudirman Cup!! I am very surprised to learn they are in fact not! Thanks..
There'll be fourteen participating countries for this event => http://www.badmintonasia.org/tourna...a-mixed-team-championships-2017/download/2088 01) China 02) Hong Kong China 03) India 04) Indonesia 05) Japan 06) Korea 07) Malaysia 08) Maldives 09) Philippines 10) Singapore 11) Srilanka 12) Thailand 13) Chinese Taipei 14) Vietnam Tournament prospectus : http://www.badmintonasia.org/tourna...a-mixed-team-championships-2017/download/2086 DRAW date (group-stage) : 2nd February 2017
Great, but don't you people thing that'll add up to what seems to be an already engagingly tiring calendar year? Like we already have BAC, we already have WC and TC/UC and SC, we already have loads of SS and PSS and an additional SSF not to mention tons of GPGs GPs ISs ICs etc... Recently Cricket has witnessed heavy fall in interest and the biggest reason for this sudden change is cricket itself, there are loads of matches and leagues n tourneys, continental cups one after the other. I am afraid Badminton can face the same fate. Also I agree to @pcll99's suggestion. Anyways being a hardcore baddy fan I am still looking forward for the tourney, after PBL this will be our savior in this off-season.

https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/...d=50706AE1-774D-4E28-8E91-3150EB93200F&tid=47 Is this list correct? If so its a real poor lineup! No KS, Sameer, BSP only HSP for MS, Sikki, AP, JG missing only Manisha K for doubles No Akshay, Mannu Atri, Sumeeth B reddy, only PJC, and young Satwik/Chirag for doubles Also, Ruthvika, Siril aren't in the team but rituparna and Tanvi are! Well idk what were they thinking, it's not a team which would symbolize "youngsters must've exposure" Its not even an "all elite team", hell, its not even a complete team only 9 members but SN and PVS are there which also says they aren't taking this tourney for granted. Idk man
In MS and WS they normally only select 2 players each as only one plays a match. The remaining 6 slots should be doubles players! Srikanth was part of the team earlier and he has opted out, probably to focus on the All England. Not sure if Saina will play or continue to train for the All England. For MD the players picked are for exposure. WD is surprising, the junior WD players should have been picked. Tomorrow is the final day for changes!
Yeah ik, that's why I am shocked nobody to stand beside HSP! For say if he have bad H2H against some player, or suddenly goes out of form or heaven forbids get injured or sick! Also sikki is doing fab. Idk why she is out
The IND Team has been updated. It is balanced and they can now dream about a podium finish! https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/...d=50706AE1-774D-4E28-8E91-3150EB93200F&tid=47 Men Attri, Manu Chopra, Pranaav Jerry Prannoy, H. S. Seeding Report : http://www.badmintonasia.org/tourna...a-mixed-team-championships-2017/download/2138 01) China 02) Korea 03) Japan 04) Malaysia ------------------------------- 05) Indonesia 06) Thailand 07) Chinese Taipei 08) India 09) Hong Kong China 10) Singapore 11) Vietnam 12) Srilanka 13) Philippines 14) Maldives It's unbelieveable that the best KOR MD now rank 71st in the world And it's TRUE, http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/ranking/category.aspx?id=12706&category=474&p=1&ps=100 The best KOR MD are Chung Eui Seok/Kim Duk Young
Funny how that works. And neither of those players are even on the list for the championships next month. I guess this is why we often say 'highest-ranked', rather than 'best'. Clearly, the Korean coaches feel they have a better chance when Yoo Yeon Seong or Kim Gi Jung are paired with anyone than they would fielding Chung and Kim against, say, Li/Liu or Issara/Puangpuapech.
