What about partnering Kim Gi Jung-Yoo Yeon Seong....I'm sure it is not a bad idea even for a short term until Asian Games 2018.....Their partnership with the youngsters so far do not seem to reap success
Endo is raising the Yuta Watanabe whose name you forgot And tbh, he's a bit of a greenhorn... making Endo go to retrieve funny shots sometimes...
To be fair Yuta is 2 years younger than Sol-gyu, and has much less exposure to the world tour. Same thing goes for the korean MD youngsters, they haven't gotten much exposure to world badminton being overshadowed by their seniors, and when these senior suddenly all retire it's natural for them to be lacking at first. I saw at a korean badminton fan page this morning that YYS will be playing with Kim Ha Na from now on, I don't have a legitimate source to verify it though.
Very sad that KSH retires. He was one the most spectacular players on the tour! It is also a loss for the quality and entertainment of MD. I really miss the Korean pairs as they mostly garantueed a lot of action with their solid defense and great attack on court. Will be interesting to see how fast some juniors come up. I would also like to see KGJ with YYS and also wonder why they split CYN and YYS. I thought they worked out quite well. Let's see how YYS with KHN fare.
As pointed out on Badzine, the legitimate source for this is the Halla Ilbo, a daily newspaper in Jeju-do.
I can give a rough translation from Google as I don't know Korean! "He wants to retire before the Olympic charge and respect its support and his partner Kim Ha Na" My understanding: He wants to retire before the Olympic preparation gets under way for Tokyo 2020. He respects the Olympic training and his partner Kim Ha Na. Anyone who knows Korean, please give an accurate translation!
What about Chung Eui Seok-Kim Dukyoung tho.....They are the same batch like Kim Gi Jung and Kim Sa Rang.....Plus,Chung Eui Seok used to win the World Junior Championship with Shin Baek Cheol
Hmm. You have posted a Twitter post in Bahasa Indonesian from an Indonesian fan site. How would knowing Korean be relevant? From what I can tell, translating from Bahasa Indonesia into English using Google Translate, this is a rendering of the paraphrase in the Badzine article from Yonhap. In other words, it is again talking about the fact that before Rio, Ko had told Kim that he intended to retire. He told Yonhap that she respects his decision and supports him but both feel it is regrettable that they cannot continue to play together. The original Korean text is in Yonhap and it is not one of his reasons for retiring but rather a description of one of the unfortunate results of his decision to retire: 고성현은 "하나에게 미안하다"며 "파트너니까 올림픽 전부터 나의 은퇴에 대해 미리 이야기했었다. 하나는 제 결정을 존중하고 응원해주고 있지만, 아쉽기는 할 것이다. 저도 아주 아쉬우니까"라며 미안한 마음을 전했다.
I really would like to see zhang nan with ko sung hyun internationally! This could be awesome. Too bad it won't happen as well as a lyd / fhf combo
Yeah that's what I saw and then thought I would like to see them compete against the world s best in SS, ssp like tan/setiawan. Sad that ko retired. Such an athlete and most of the times he really looks like he enjoys every match!! Unlike others where you sometimes get the impression it's just their work...
I didn't feel like they played particularly well together, but I guess Ko SH and Son WH made big impressions this year, since they're the only non-chinese players at the CBSL finals.
Ko Sung Hyun braces for legal action http://www.badzine.net/2017/05/ko-sung-hyun-braces-for-legal-action/
Would love to see him playing again. He's in the top form of his life; it's a shame to see him leave already.
This control of players by national associations is so middle age. But how to change the rules, as it is the associations that control the BWF? Perhaps Ko's legal action is the only way, showing that regarding national legal code this control is unjustified?
