1) The Danish Li Ning shop / official importer sell reels. However, the pricing is such, that you don't get much of a discount (more or less you'll pay 20 sets for a reel, so you get the 2 sets you can squeeze from it). Considering that, it's better to go for sets in different colors (and not buying 20 at a time, since not many players are asking for Li Ning strings here!). 2) The sets they sell are in purple packages. They are not knock-offs. I purchased directly from importers warehouse at an outlet sale. (String colours offered: White, Yellow, Red).
Thanks for the informative review of the complete spectrum as always DinkAlot! Based on the feedback we now have, it seems that the blue batches might suffer from some manufacturing line default. On that note, my LN1 (yellow) came as a black packet from MBS although the phenomenon of string thickness still befuddles me. Just had my first try of BG65Ti @34lbs and it outplays NBG98 @30lbs (0.70mm vs 0.66mm). String thickness theory is baffling
used to be string with a stringer with fleet machine , 27x29 66um on z-force 88 ping at 1340hz+- mark change to a stringer with yonex protech es5 machine, 25x27 66um on z-force 88 ping at 1400+- mark i wonder which one more accurate, hahaha
I have no idea why you are posting this in the LN1 thread, but okay... No way that BG66UM @25x27 pings at 1400 Hz - even with the compact head of a ZF. I would expect it to land in the 1300 Hz region, maybe even a tad lower. The 1340 Hz @27x29 seem about right, but still on the higher side of the range.
The black packaging is designed for international distribution whereas the purple packaging is designed for domestic (China) distribution. The strings are exactly the same but there may be instances where the purple packaging is shipped to international distributors due to available quantities. FYI there are reels available. No.1, No.5 and No.7 are available in white, yellow and black. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm starting to see some post-stringjob fraying with this one now, as well... might be time to go back to BG80 again.
I'm moving back to 80 as well. Easier for me to get in VN, but I've had a run of bad luck with #1 breaking after just a few hours of play, and I'm not a powerful player at all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The yellow and white LN1 I purchased from MBS has been very durable for me. Haven't tried the other colors.
My issues were with red and blue. Blue is by far the worst in my experience, but I think we all had agreed on that already. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Had the first early failure on a (yellow) LN1 job yesterday. Second session with a Titan @12 kg and it snapped after a pretty bad mishit right at one of the top single pass grommets. I checked the grommets and they looked a bit dented. So I would say I can't blame the string for the failure. I will exchange all the single pass ones around the top with the small T-shaped ones from Dennis and I expect the issue to be solved.
tested the black LN1 26lbs on the LN N90iii s-type when my racket face made contact with the shuttle, it produced a 'ping' that would last a bit 'in the air' anyone had this feeling / experience?
Tried LN-1 at 26lbs. Impressive performance, better than Zymax62F and GT5. However, it didn't last long and snapped 1 week later.
I thought so as well, but the more I've used it the less I think it is very durable. I get about 2-3 weeks play before they break at 26-28. The blue coated #1 is terrible for durability, maybe 2 sessions. Possibly bad luck as well I suppose but I've used it a good bit and had similar outcomes. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
Only reason I could remotely agree with this is because from experience when I strung No. 1 at my regular tension. It felt and played great for 2 weeks and then the tension just tanked at least 2-3lbs before stabilising. For me it needs to be pulled so high that its not cost effective on the grommets and would probably start cutting into my frame. Sent from my LG-H961N using Tapatalk
White and red have been ok. 2-3 weeks. Blue is 3-6 hours. Really terrible. I've moved back to bg80. Easier to get and it's still awesome IMO. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
My own experience is with the red and yellow version of LN#1: Red is not that durable... stringing at 24-25 lb, denting in crosses become very visible after 10-14 hours if play, with the coating being breached exposing the core. And it breaks almost quarantined after 30 hours of play, in one of those dents. That is based on 4 sets of red, for both my own and a clients racket. Yellow appears to be the most (very!) durable... Have only yet managed to have one (1!) broken string in yellow, which was caused by a bad tie-off (cutting into the main) in the top. It snapped after around 40-ish hours of play, strung at 25-26 lb, and still did only show a minimum of denting in the coating. So my experience is that yellow is THE Li-Ning #1 to use, in terms of durability. When talking about "playability" I am not that sensitive/experienced, so that I have been able to feel a difference between the red and yellow... Sendt fra min SM-G903F med Tapatalk
