Soong Joo Ven did his best in order to beat Lee Cheuk Yiu 21-19, 21-11. Despite the latter's good lead 10-5 in the second set, SJV managed to get 12 straight point from 9-11 to win the match. Next opponent is Jo Christie which is expectedly the end of line for SJV.
Saina Nehwal in semis after a 3 game match! Haruko Suzuki did well to take game 2. She made Saina work hard for her points.
I hope playing and winning these long matches will give SN confidence. She would need that in her semi final match against Busanan, who has won all her matches comfortably.
Unreal how Lamfuss/Seidel actually booted out the third seed, Alfian/Ardianto of INA quite easily 21-10, 22-20.
CHN junior MD Han Chengkai/Zhou Haodong show promise. They didn't handle the crucial points well in losing to the INA MD pair just now.
So need this tourney badly. By and then RI will be really tough though. So has to play RI and then SJH in Round 1 of the upcoming successive SS tourneys. She needs to be high on confidence at least, as everything else isn't looking good
I am certain that they will be a world beater when they peak around 20s. They lost to an experienced pair and can do much better in the future.

Even when 2 local players playing, we can find coaches guiding both of them on court. Both Tanongsak and Pannawit were given coaching tips by separate coaches. I know both of them are national players ( or any club concept going on @ thailand). I wonder !
Jonatan Christie has experience of Malaysia SSP 2016 semifinal, Joo Ven Soong in first GPG semifinal!
A little rude of JC not to shake hands with his opponent first after winning. The commentator made a remark.
Jonatan Christie in his first GPG Final! His experience helped him win. Joo Ven Soong will gain confidence from this tournament!
Quite low quality match with JC's mistakes and SJV's self destruction. Still, congrats to JC nonetheless.
