I am curious how come so many people seem to break their strings so easily. I hardly break strings (2-3times a year) but often cut them (10-20x a year). But I also use several rackets

Please state your average tension, level of play and age, thanks!

Average tensions is 26, plays intermediate, 22 years old.

I don't hit hard, and I'm usually on .68mm variant strings.

String used mostly: Yonex BG80, Tension 28lb, Advanced league level, 39 years old.

I have many rackets I rotate but I do break strings 50 percent of the time, usually I cut them also when the feeling has gone dull.

    Kindest regards,

36yrs old. Advanced. 13-13,5kg. BG 80. I hardly break any strings. But after 6-8weeks I cut them in two. I play 3-5 times a week.

Before an import tournament i cut the strings of two rackets. (If older than 4 weeks)

    34 y/o, level C- or C. Strings used - rock hard 0.65-0.68's at 33-ish.

Mine go in the bin after 10 hrs of play - I break maybe one a year.

I'm confused why "age" has anything to do with this subject. Do you suspect there is some correlation between age and strings breaking?

    Strength.

Rarely broke strings right or left handed. Mostly cut them. Either using .65 or bg80.

30/32lbs with mostly BG80 (and all other strings I may choose to test for fun). Intermediate player. Age 27.

I rarely break strings though. Always cut them by the 3rd month latest if I'm regularly using only that one racket. But I'm mostly rotating off between MX80 and BS12 now.

19 Y/O, String used mostly : None. I've been constantly experimenting with new stuff all the time. I guess currently it'd be BG80. Last two jobs have been 33x34 but I usually roam around 32.

I don't chew through strings (do snap them sometimes) but I cut them <a week as the tension drop is quite apparent and I like staying at a constant tension if possible. 4+ hours a day, 4 days a week of playtime is a variable that you'd like to have.

39 y/o. I cut mine cause BG66UM tends to have that numbing feeling after a month to two months of play. I am intermediate level now at club and used to be on school team.

It lasts a month or two? I hate it after a week, and 66UM is one of the *only* strings I can actually snap.

I can only play once a week due to work and other priorities. So that's why it can last a month (or two).

36 y/o, low german club league level, string used is LN1 at 27-29 lbs.
I rotate between 3-4 rackets and maybe have one breakage per year. Normally, I cut them after about 3 months on the racket when they start to feel dull.

mid 30, intermediate player, prefer medium hard to hard strings around 0.68mm (like VS850, BG80/BG80P, NBG99) @ 29-31lbs.
Use 3-4 rackets, restring every 2-4 weeks (depends on my schedule, tournaments and on/off season), broke this year 4 jobs, normally when it's cold. Normally cut them, when they feel less repulsive and dull.

    18yr, intermediate, Ultimax 0.66, 27ibs even, plays around 6 hrs a week
I use 3 rackets normally in a cycle of tightest first.
I normally wait till my strings snaps or about to snap for restring but normally it depends on the shots I play with that racket (generally lasts me for a month and a bit).
If you smash more and slice the shuttle obviously the strings won't last.
But I think that there is some controversy as each persons technique is different etc as we all know so some people may actually snap quicker than others. and we do need to consider the temp we keep the strings in...

Went back down to 30/31 for a couple of sessions to try it out - absolutely no chance.
