How does the selection process work?
Does that mean he turned pro at 11 years old?

Quite curious to know how player development works in Indonesia. I know there is a club system which develops players and then they get sent to national centre. I didn't realise national centre has its own training program at such an early age.

I'm referring to the thought of better than the opponent.

Yes of course Kevin knows how to behave when the umpire put an eye on him (unlike some players like Marin who sometimes even challenged the umpire with "What?").

I also giggled when he teased the umpire but followed by the thought "at least he should have more respect umpires + thankfully the umpire still got some humour". Things like this spiced up the match and without doubt making it more interesting.

Harmless? I believe here is a chance, if the umpire is not in the mood he might just show a card. So it might be a no fun to some people.

Compare with other like Woon Khe Wei playing a shot with her hand in INA SSP, it must be fun for everyone ;)

Then again I can't either agree or disagree with anyone being disrespectful in terms of his/her attitude on court. Not everyone has the same argument about it.

But anyway, he is not that proud or arrogant to ignore the fact that there is always someone better who can defeat him. So I can see the humility in him.

When I said harmless, I didn't mean it to him. If he upsets the umpire and gets cards then, well it is his own fault. It would still be fun to me :p:p:p. He should have known the consequences of his doings. If he loses because of the cards then he should know what he shouldn't be doing next time.
But umpires should not in any case fault any player just to show his authorities. This is sport, if the umpire started calling false faults to players, then it just showed that even the officials were doing unsportmanshiplike conducts which could ruin .

No, not a movie about him. It was a movie about a boy dreaming to be a professional badminton athletes, but Kevin was in that movie. And Jonathan Christie I think.

Well what he said after the match against Chen/Wang that is true but i guess that is just a fact.

Maybe its like saying if you are born poor no matter how much you work you will still be poor. well not 100% but maybe 90% of it. and saying slums poor.

and jogging in front of the net at indonesian masters is also quite indimidating, he will find ways for mistreatment no matter what.

Its just his nature. Whatever he does, fans wont find it boring thats for sure.

    Thanks. That clarifies things nicely..

What is the youngest age a player can join the national centre?

The last time I heard is 14. There is a quota of players in national centre, around 50 if I am not mistaken. Every player will be evaluated annually, the one that didn't perform will be replaced by the new recruits. The policy changed quite often so I don't really know if my knowledge still relevant.

Not Mia Audina? She was already in the Uber team cup when she was 14 back then, if I remembered correctly.

The cheeky Suka would probably laugh Super Dan off the court, do you think he'll have respect for legends?.
