Hello, I've been stringing for a while now and for some reason, the rackets' get a dull sound when bouncing a shuttlecock on it. When watching professionals play, the sound on their strings lasts a lot longer than mine. Not sure how to explain it but it's like this: The sound of a professionally strung racket: diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing. The sound when I string a racket: ding. I've tried stringing different rackets but I get the same result. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Are you using a huge pre-stretch that could kill the strings ? Do you have a clamp slippage problem, or inconsistent speed, that could result in inconsistent tension ? Do you have the same problem if you string at 9 or 10 kg ?
The pro play with BG66U or BG80 with 14-16kg Put Li-ning n°1 with 15kg and the sound is diiiiiiiing, lol
What kind of machine are you using? I’m stringing on a crank lockout and am getting the kind of short ping you’re getting. Using the racquet seems fine. It sounds dead but the replusion is good.
IMO it is not a string issue, not a stringing issue, not a tension issue...it's the simple fact that a recorded video sounds different, that when you are able to use the string, your racket and the tension up to the max with your abilties, it sounds different, and the enviroment of your hall makes it different to make your racket this cracking thunderous sound or not.
The sound fade out much better in large halls due acoustic. Also a slice/cut action for net shots make the string ring longer than simple bouncing of the stringbed. And a crank 28 is maybe an ECP 25 depending on technique and clamps. As long as the string performs good and the shape of the racket is right, I wouldn't think about it and 90% of the male players have a fresh 30+ from an ECP.
With bouncing do you mean just bounce a shuttle on the stringbed at home right after stringing, or the sound while playing? Right after stringing i always bounce a bit on the stringbed either with a shuttle or with my hand. I expect a nice tiiing sound than, also on lower tensions like 22 lbs. If no ting right after stringing is heard, I expect problems during stringing like strings got too much stress from pulling throug shared holes or like earlier mentioned, clamp slippage... in my first period of stringing the stringbed felt way less tiiing compared to now. I also use crank by the way. I think a long tiiing on court is another story. I only have such a sound when it is strung at a high tension like 28 lbs
