I hear you. I don't expect the ax99 to have a huge leap of improvements from the ax88d, and oy time will tell. If the 88d couldn't get me away from my n9ii, I doubt the ax99 will .

Agreed! I actually don't see alot of hype for AX99. Maybe everyone realised how incremental it is from the 88D (granted we still haven't tested it but honestly, I think it's a good educated guess).

Come to think of it.. maybe yonex released the 99 coz they didn't want all the singles players to use a doubles racquet. That way people will feel like they should buy it for singles and 88D for doubles, even though they're probably very similar.

but isnt the AX99 going to be more head heavier than AX88D, so really they will play differently

Yeah, no doubt, it will play differently, but we just don't think it will be a big upgrade from 88d , especially for those who are already invested with the 88s and 88d. Let's wait for those who are going to use the ax99 to give us feedback on it .

Hey guys, just broke my 88S, ugh. On the fence if I should get another 88S or try out 88D instead. I've only ever played a few strokes with the 88D, and it gave me a really 'solid' feeling. I don't have the luxury of scrolling through all of the previous pages again but from what I've recalled reading last time, the 88D isn't that much head heavier, does not sacrifice too much in speed as well? My concerns are primarily how much stiffer would the 88D be, if any?

    Opinions greatly appreciated, much thanks!

88D is noticeably head heavier, and yes, it definitely feels more solid because it's also stiffer. I would say if you felt the 88S was easy to use and don't mind a bit more head weight and stiffness, then safely go for 88D. Or you could just wait for 99 I mean, should be similar too.

Yeah but considering how remarkably close the 99 is to 88D on the matrix, I don't think it'll be drastically different that's a must have for people who already have 88D.

Alright, will take that into consideration, thanks! Also just a nitpick, am I the only one that prefers the traditional long handle of the grip instead of the 88S which is 5mm shorter?

Thanks, I would gotten 3 instead of 2 if I lacked the budget...I have ordered 1 n99 but its solely for collection purpose. The 88d is so easy to get used to, like the Vt80 and AT900P.

Nothing unexpected. They haven't really explained the how of the break either.

If in such tragic event that one of your 88d breaks also, please use that as an excuse and buy ax99 and give us a review, I would certainly look forward to it. BTW, I do mean I look forward to your possible review of the ax99 and not your 88d's demise .
