Yonex started some strange thing fiddling with their string. First they started to make thinner, and thinner strings, and now the hybrids, which before was a no no. Now bringing to the market racket to string up to 35l bs. I'm a stringer, and what I'd like to see that Yonex start posting recommended tensions on their string packages, because I'm pretty doubtful that they 0.61 mm string can observe even 30 lbs. I was at the Korean Master watching Seo with Kim Ha na losing 4 strings in one game that is 4 points loss, when his rackets were strung up to 33 lbs.mind you those were Victor strings. But Yonex is no different. These thin Badminton strings must have tension rating posted on their packages!!!!!!
Good for you, because I tried to string a Voltric Z Force II with BG 66 UM from a 200 m reel for 30 lbs with 2 knots, and it popped when I pulled the last line on top.
It takes a lot of care to string thin strings at high tensions, the casing can easily strip, the string could twist and snap, and the knots can slip and pop. I watched my stringer string my racquets and at 31lbs, he slows down the speed towards the end of every pull. For sure 66UM can go higher than 30lbs, and just ask Axelsen, he strings AB at 33-34 which means aerosonic at 34lbs. Yonex strings have no issues at high tensions.
Successful stringing is one thing, usage is an other.I'm pulling every vertical, and every horizontal line. If you pull every second lines like tournament stringing as I witnessed, that is a fast, but not the kind of string job that I'm doing.
AS can take it easily if the stringer is good enough. It's when you play with it that the problem surfaces. Durability goes down the toilet. AS has however taken 35 twice on my rackets without a fuss. I've had a lot of strings taken to insane tensions for the heck of it. Let me assure you they are just fine. Stringer is doing something wrong, the pack could've had a defect or it was nicked somewhere.
WE are getting away from my intention of this thread. My point is that the strings should be rated for tension as the rackets are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The point we're making is, yonex strings don't need tension ratings because they can take any tension you want...
Strings don't need a tension rating. There is a thing called elastic/plastic limit for every string. Prestretch and all variables are bound to affect the performance of the string along with racket variables and temperature of the place. Strings are under a lot more tension and strain and hence it is difficult to generalize the parameters for the string .
