Hi guys. I have a little bit of an issue with my stringing. There seems to be a repeated level of wear / stripping of the strings (BG80) right in the centre section of my string bed. This seems like stripping of the outer jacket of the string and happens within a month of the racket being strung. I personally break my strings well before this oblivious stripping occurs. Is this due to my stringing technique? The centre stings are never clamped and go through the easy single grommet holes, so I am a little unsure of why this is happening. Any suggestions would be great.
That is normal wear for BG80 from playing. One month is quite a bit for the string. However there is possibility this can happen also as a result of "burning' the string. It's when you pull the cross trough the mains fast without moving the cross up and down so that it will not file the hole. It is hard to say from your photo if the damage is in main or cross, but usually from playing it happens in crosses as a result of slincing but from burning it will be in mains. But again, the sleeve of the string is made of a fragile material in BG80 and that is exactly how it looks like when getting worn from playing...
I agree, that looks like damage from playing, it would explain why it's in the middle of the stringbed too.
Normal. Happens quicker with rough/dry strings vs. smooth/slippery strings. Time to cut and replace. Sent from my ZTE A2017G using Tapatalk
If it's centre of stringbed or slightly higher, and wasn't present after initial stringing then congratulations you're hitting the sweetspot. Keep it up.
