The WISE 2086 tension head now has the new series 14 replacing the series 12 machine. The price is also higher. I wanted to know if any member is currently using this latest model and know the actual difference between the two series. I'm using the series 12 currently, and just very curious about the series 14. Below are the listed improvements on paper from the website: The series 14, have several internal electronic improvements, including optical sensors, linear griper guide, machined motor mounts, improved gripper with lever switch, and redesigned circuit board.
Following. I am curious to know as well. Been using my series 12 since 2013 and its still going strong!
Quote from user Anderson on tenniswarehouse forum; "Functionality and visible characteristics of Series 14 vs 12: pulling sound from motor and drive is quieter, smoother; incremental pulls are in smaller and more frequent steps (e.g., around 1/2 lb step instead of 1-2 lb step); lever switch next to linear gripper instead of red button switch; diablo is integrated into gripper housing; mounting bracket has 2 anchor screws (vs. 1); only 1 wire (power supply plug) in the back as lever switch wiring is integrated into gripper housing. The refinement is evident and IMO worth the additional cost." More users have confirmed its smoothness wherever the series 12 would stutter approaching set tension. https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/ind...086-price-jump-are-there-new-features.612807/ Hope its not against the rules to share this info. I sold my old wise and it was definitely stuttering on some slippery, thin strings like it wasn't getting a good grip even after cleaning. Planning on repurchasing wise one of these days so it's good to hear the improvements.
I have strung about 10 rackets over the weekend using the Series 14. Heres a short and simple review of it: Speed: It seems like it is a tad bit faster than the Series 12. Sound: Quiet.... Very Quiet compared to the Series 12. Design: About the same, need to get used to the new button on the gripper. You have to push it quite a bit for it to activate. Tensioning: Seems to pull a bit faster than the Series 12. Prestretch is the biggest improvement imo. It stretches and goes back to the desired tension instantly. Also when using constant pull, its not clicking while adjusting the tension. Its very quiet, and a true constant pull. Overall, this was worth the purchase. The sound and the prestretch improvement is more than enough to make me switch.
Thanks for your initial review on the new tensioner. I've been using my series 12 for almost 7 years (2700 rackets). Maybe I'll consider getting the series 14.. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
