Anyone knew what happened to this player? He was suppose to be as promising as Shi Yuqi. Many Chinese actually believe he is actually better than Shi Yuqi.

Yeah, I like Lin Guipu too though his junior days coach said his shotmaking is unrefined despite having speed and aggression.

The last I heard through the grapevine, on zhangyutv actually, was that he started intensive training a few months ago. No idea when he's coming back but I certainly hope he does as he's talented and still young, only 20 years old, born 21 April 1997.

Didn't see him participating in Lingshui China Master. Thought that was like a comeback tournament for Chinese player.

I should think so.The last tournament he played was at the World University Games last month where in the individual event he progressed to the semifinals and lost to the TPE player who in turn lost to Ren Pengbo in the final.

As the one-time WJC Lin Guipu is still only 21 years old, the chances of him making a successful comeback sounds plausible to me.

According to the article, Lin Guipu injured his right leg at the 2016 Lingsui Masters tournament and after that the injury relapsed four or five times, he himself never thought it would take that long to recover.

He had officially resumed training only for two months before participating in the FISU World University Games where he just came back from Malaysia a few days ago, as reported in the article dated 11 Nov 2018.

He is born in Zhejiang province, Cangnan county in Wenzhou city, on 21st April 1997, 21 years old now. " I still have my dream and am striving for it, otherwise won't persevere until now," said Lin Guipu. In his heart, LGP has set many targets for his professional career. Recently, his main focus is on intensifying the training to meet the demands of the sport.

" I've not enrolled to play the year-end Chinese Badminton Super League (CBSL), I felt that making steady progress incrementally is more important."

I should expect Lin Guipu to return in March, he's undergoing intensive, comprehensive winter training these few months as he has said earlier he would..

I'm very surprised to see LGP's name for the MAS Purple League. Maybe he needed to make some money for Lunar New Year. Just saying.

Indeed, I guess he's still club player instead of CHN national team member. We'll know soon until Lingshui CHN Masters Super 100 entry list published whether he would take part there.

No LGP's name at Lingshui China Masters next month. :(

I guess that LGP will concentrate more in his study. So, is he going to comeback after he finished his study or will he continue to take advance degree to pursue his higher academic?

I believe it's a hard choice for him.

Perhaps the problem is CBA it self, whether Lin GP could fulfill their criteria to back into national team despite current second layered players (Zhou ZQ, Zhao JP, Lu GZ) have no satisfying achievement so far to win at least Super 500 tournament, only Shi Yuqi is exceptional.
