In Korean, it's always spelled 노예욱 and the family name is always pronounced 'Noh', just like the two former presidents. In that way, it is more like Lee[sic] Yong Dae, than Ra[sic] Kyung Min. In the case of Lee, it is never spelled 리, so in Korean, the spelling always matches the pronunciation, which is 'Ee'. However, with Ra Kyung Min, it is spelled 라 half the time and 나 half the time, but still, it is always pronounced 'Na' by Koreans, and never 'Ra'.
Sort of: Revised Romanization is Na Gyeongmin and McCune–Reischauer was Ra Kyŏngmin. When it comes to names, there are all sorts of ways that non-standard Romanizations become the norm. Every Korean named 'Lee' is really pronounced 'Ee', every 'Lim' is really 'Im', every 'Wu' is really 'Oo', every 'Ryu' is 'Yoo', and every 'Roh' is really 'No'. There are no exceptions. Wikipedia will show you how the name spellings differ from how the sounds should be Romanized according to the two main methods. 'Ra' is a special case because in hangeul, it is sometimes spelled '라', even though it is always pronounced '나'. 'Ryu' can work like that, too. In other words, Ryu and Ra sometimes have a mismatch between the hangeul spelling and the Korean pronunciation. Lee, Lim, Wu, and Roh are all internally consistent. The Korean spelling and Korean pronunciation always match each other and they are simply Romanized in a way that deliberately sabotages non-Koreans' attempts to figure out how to pronounce them correctly
http://www.badmintontimes.com/article2/articleRead.jsp?menunum=101&no=7281 It appears that Kim Ha Na has signed a new contract with Korean brand Fitsum that extends in 2020. Apparently she'll be returning to competition soon at the Korea Open/Korean Masters. At least this is what I've gathered by plugging the article into Google Translate. Hopefully a Korean speaking forumer is able to verify this piece of info.
Interesting question as to who she would partner. My guess is it would be difficult for her to play with any of the four who are still playing and moving up the ranks - that is, Kim/Lee or Ko/Shin. The reason being that they would only be able to play smaller events with her, while they are already qualified for Superseries events in MD and don't want to stop playing those. You can see the awkwardness for Ko Sung Hyun. He couldn't play with Eom in Japan or Thailand and next, they are playing the Akita Masters, where he and Shin have very little to gain. 5500 points for winning would improve their ranking but it won't be that helpful in getting them into the top 8. On the other hand, the Badminton Times article says she plans to enter the Korea Open first, which suggests that her partner would already have to have been playing. Otherwise, they wouldn't even have a notional ranking. I don't believe MD points count. When Ko was entered in the Korea Masters with Eom last December, the only ranking points they had were from Ko playing the 2017 Korea Masters with another partner. His MD points with Shin did not contribute. That means playing with Kim Sa Rang, Shin, or Lee, or Kim Gi Jung would involve entering a first event with 0. Yoo Yeon Seong and Kim Duk Young both have a few XD points, though.
At least she looks healthier than her stick thin look while with BKA. Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
Well, the Samsung people didn't ask me for my opinion. Now Kim Ha Na and Kim Gi Jung are #13 on the Korea Open reserve list. Their partnership is a non-starter unless Kim Gi Jung doubles his tournament count. His situation is even worse than Ko Sung Hyun's. Ko only missed the first 3 Superseries events of the Olympic qualifying period with Eom and now they can enter even Super 1000 events and he no longer has to attend different events with Shin and Eom, as he has been doing. Now, Kim Gi Jung can play China and Korea with Lee Yong Dae and then what? Pop over to Bulgaria for a future series and then Bahrain for an IS? Those are his only two weeks off before the Denmark Open. I mean, they can try the Super 100s during those weeks - Akita and Russia had lots of room for ranking point-less mixed pairs - but if Indonesia and the Netherlands are like Hyderabad, or even Canada, they will be out of luck.
