Hi, everyone. The BWF 2019 season will be started soon. This is the first post this year in 2019 Tournaments section. This thread is created for lower tier tournaments. This means the discussion for Grade 3 tournaments, S100 and S300 tournaments are meant to be here. If you wish to create a specific thread about a particular lower tier tournament, go ahead. This thread is not for the high tier tournaments. These tournaments will have its own thread. Ask @CLELY or other members to create a thread for these tournaments to start a discussion about these. Having said that, @CLELY should be made into a moderator for her great contribution. I feel like this forum doesn't have enough moderators, given its large number of members here.

Looking at the draw briefly, two-time Olympic Champion Lin Dan will be crowd puller in this warming up tournament towards next two Super 500 events in KL and Jakarta where the elites show up. Top-seed Lin who had dismal result in 2018 season will seek a good start in Bangkok. His main hurdles will coming from home challengers Khosit Phetpradab and rising star 20 years old Kantaphon Wangcharoen who managed runner-up last year. Lin has qualifier on first round then most likely will take on Hong Kong latest talent Lee Cheuk Yiu and possibly Ihsan Maulana Mustofa in quarterfinal. In WS category, defending champion Nitchaon Jindapol spearheads Thailand squad to extend their glory at home soil alongside with her compatriots Busanan Ongbamrungphan and last year beaten finalist Pornpawee Chochuwong. Other top contenders in the fray, Canadian ace Michelle Li, Cheung Ngan Yi and Chinese back-up Cai Yanyan. From now on, we have to treat Lin Dan as "regular player". He won't be a clear favorite like he used to be. Having said that, he is the first seed in Thailand Masters. Can he win this tournament?
I thought he had been a regular player since many years ago who shone once or twice a year when he felt like to. This will be a warm up for him though great if he could win this. The real battle usually starts from AE for him. We'll see. Jia you Lin Dan!!
Is there actually any stream for tournaments like these any more? videostream.dn.ua and sportstream365 are both not working and smashnation7 (which imo used the feed from videostream.dn.ua anyway) wants "donations" to provide service.
An honour for home teenager, reigning WJC Kunlavut Vitidsarn who will meet Lin Dan tomorrow. Another potential young talents also make it into main draw, Koki Watanabe and Loh Kean Yew, the latter beat upcoming CHN players, Sun Feixiang and Liu Haichao, recent Scottish Open runner-up & champion respectively.
19 year-old Watanabe Koki managed to get through both of his qualifying matches. He won the Yonex/K&D Graphics International Challenge just last month, and it will be interesting to see the whether the newly-promoted National B Team player can survive R1.

He has to beware of Khosit Phetpradab (Thailand), 16th in the World Ranking currently. Luckily for Lin Dan, the two of them are at opposite ends of the draw so they probably won't meet till much later, should they both survive the earlier rounds as expected.
Lin Dan's first opponent in Thailand Masters will be Kunlavut Vitidsarn, two-times WJC. It is not going to be easy for the old legend.

Well, @yuquall has stated he's caught up with Momota, plus the ultra-secretive winter training camp. He's easily in the top3 in the world now - probably even better - and will win many tournaments this year, if not all.
