What an unbelievable draw. Daddies will meet KGJ/LYD in the R1 Malaysia Masters.

Ahsan/Hendra choose to quit from national team to give room for the youngsters. It is a wise decision from them. For Hendra, this makes his third time for quitting the national team. But, this time, Ahsan/Hendra will continue to train in PBSI. I wonder if that's the case, what's the difference between staying in pelatnas and quitting from pelatnas besides the cost for everything. I assume that their main sponsor will be Mizuno since they have signed contract with it. Since they are no longer part of the pelatnas, who is their personal coach? Do Herry and Aryono continue to coach them?

Well, Hendra did say something about training in the clubs too (that they will train 3-4 times a week in the pelatnas). Maybe the coaches will be the club coaches? As for training in Pelatnas.. I think it will be win-win solution for the PBSI and the pair. Training in PBSI will still give them action... Will give them enough opponents that regularly play internationally (Competition in training is always good), also facilities that maybe the clubs cannot provide. For the pelatnas? Experience. The young guns also have a competition in form of good, extremely experienced players, that will not hinder their chances of playing internationally as Ahsan/Hendra now have nothing to do with the funds that will be used for other pairs to travel.

Except maybe the quota for olympics and other special international tournaments that Ahsan/Hendra will surely try to get in.

Ahsan's club is Djarum and Hendra's club is Jaya Raya. So club training a bit more difficult and club support usually only given to club players. Especially Djarum and Jaya Raya are the biggest 2 clubs and their rivalry is well-known

Not to mention , Jaya Raya is in Jakarta and Djarum is in Kudus. They have to train in Pelatnas camp to cut all unnecessary problems.

Idk if Ahsan can train in Jaya Raya or not since he's not affiliated and come from rival club. No way they will train in Djarum since it's too far from Jakarta.

Is it me or Ahsan is retrieving is top form? He is way more active at the backcourt than he was from some time on which is great! He is dangerous as he was in his prime

Shame that hendra has decline so much compared to ahsan, he's just too error prone now (and his serve also getting worse). ahsan still one of the best backcourt player in the world right now, but he couldn't do anything when hendra keep hitting the net time and time again.

but they lost to Goh/Tan. In MD, it is hard to tell who is better between the two.

3x times wins in a short period shows Setiawan/Ahsan is still superior than LYD/KGJ.

They lost against GVS/TWK by only a small margin 19-21. 22-24. They should take the second game when they had 2x game points, but they failed. I think the matches in PBL India till the final also gave some factors into their performance in Malaysia Masters this week.

Next, INA Masters. The daddies will meet another MAS pair, Aaron Chia/Wooi Yik Soh.

First of all Ahsan was never one of the best back court players (well, not Top5. Top10, probably). Secondly, he has gotten carried by Setiawan for more than 3 years, so it's not a big deal if he shoulders more of the weight now :D

Ahsan and especially Hendra are not that young anymore, it's not easy to adapt to the faster pace of the younger's when your physical can't keep up. It's understandable that Hendra got tangled up in his own game. He might have had the right ideas but the wrong executions.

By the way, are they using new rackets now they have a new sponsor?
