He has spent much energy here and he is playing CL later. Would he be up for it? I doubt it though.

Perhaps with 2 days' rest, he can carry his form and perform in SGP.

Lin Dan: " images (23).jpeg images (23).jpeg Phoned Chong Wei after Quarter Final. Told him, I am gonna win this tournament for you, my friend and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

    And he said, " I know. "

Wow he's proven alot of people wrong today. Was a great match. Commentators mentioning that CL didn't tire out LD as much as he should have.

And was great to see LCW during the awarding the prizes at the end.

Congratulations to Lin Dan on his 2nd Malaysian Open title at the age of 35!

Lin Dan seemed in fantastic physical shape, being able to sustain a high pace throughout the entire 78 minute match.

With this kind of form, I really believe he can achieve his Tokyo 2020 dream.

So before this tournament, I was thinking that it was about time for LD to retire. Now I think he should just play up to the Olympics. I would still put SYQ and Chen Long in the pecking order before LD for the Olympics, but if LD manages to win more top tournaments, especially closer to the Olympics, I would reconsider if LD should go before SYQ or Chen Long.

It was great to see LD win another big tournament, since his last big tournament win was the Malaysia Open 2 years ago. He has been on a drought for the last 2 years.

The problem is by the Olympics, SYQ may improve further. And I suspect Chen Long who has been out of form since the Olympics, will focus and get into form before the Olympics. So it will not be easy for LD to get one of the two spots. But if LD can win more tournaments closer to the Olympics, the Chinese national team may have to consider if LD should go over SYQ or Chen Long (SYQ needs the experience of playing in the Olympic badly though even if he doesn't win in 2020, so that is something the Chinese national team may consider).

Who would have thought after LD won CTC in R1 in such a manner, we would really see him in the podium today.

Amazing the way LD was able to control the shuttles. Most players had difficulties with it in this tournament.

Congratulations once again LD. Now you can have a nice dinner and time with your great pal LCW :)

Guess what, 14 years ago.. .Lin Dan lost a match at same Malaysian Open in similar fashion like Chou Tien Chen from 20-12 up
    And never looked back. .

After 14 years, life took a complete circle.

    Why hello there:D
Didn't you sulk and say that LD should have hung his boots many times last year? :p

No wonder CTC can never rid of his "mental block" against LD lol
    Imagine that. 14 years.. wow

Take that! What an amazing tournament. What an amazing final. LD is still among the best. If you still think he hasn't got it in him, there is no hope for you.

well 14 years ago, LD lost not against CTC but against Lee Chong Wei and that too in the final holding 8 match points and choking the lead.

It's only fair that life gave him those 8 points back and saved his career.

This was an arena with a lot of drift..

Will have to watch LD's first round against Viktor Axelsen in Singapore to make any conclusion. .

    Runs away.. .. .

These players have grown up watching him win! Many players like SYQ were not even 10 when he won his first WC! Lakshya Sen didn't exist when he was already among the best!
