Easy to use. Not overly head heavy. Stable. Fast considering the type of frame it is. It's perfectly capable all round tbh. But it of course isn't amazing in any particular dept either. Sent from my LG-H930 using Tapatalk
Dear all, I play double, and like to smash a lot. Should I get Astrox 77 or Duora Z- Strike? Astrox 77: Pro: medium flex my hand not so strong to handle extra stiff (got Voltric Z Force, it's just not for me). Con: is it really head heavy? Duora Z Strike: Pro: head heavy (though some said the racket does not bring head-heavy feeling during playing) Con: extra stiff flex Which of the two should I buy? Or should I buy other racket? Advise is much appreciated. Thank you.
Singles: Duora Z Strike 3u (extra stiff) or Astrox 77 3u (medium stiff) Doubles: Astrox 77 4u (medium stiff) or Astrox 88s/d 4u (stiff) Astrox77 and Astrox88s are slightly head heavy... Astrox88d is head heavy and "only" stiff. The best way would be to try all the rackets. Wouldn't recommend the Duora Z Strike for doubles.
Ouch, you broke my heart mate! Love my dzs for doubles and AX99 for singles. Jokes apart, dzs is really tough to tame so agree completely .
You shouldn't get neither. Ax88S 4U suits you the best. My friend that uses Ax77 just upgraded to Ax88s and never turned back.
As per quoted by BadBadmintonPlayer, "Singles: Duora Z Strike 3u (extra stiff) or Astrox 77 3u (medium stiff) Doubles: Astrox 77 4u (medium stiff) or Astrox 88s/d 4u (stiff) Astrox77 and Astrox88s are slightly head heavy... Just for extra information, I have both AX77 and AX88S (both 4u and strung with BG65 @28lbs) if you are looking for accuracy and agility, AX88S win on that department, however abit lacking in terms of hard smashes (not sure about AX88D, since it is so expensive to get both AX88). If you are looking for more well rounded and more forgiving racket, go for AX77. AX77 cost almost RM120 cheaper than AX88, and the tradeoff is somewhat relative to individuals. For me, i would prefer to go for AX77, however there are some tradeoff made comparing between AX88S and AX77. Comparison (personal opinion): Price AX88 more expensive than AX77 Clears and lob AX77>AX88S drive shots and front play AX88S>AX77 smash AX77>AX88S (slight difference) defensive play AX88S>AX77 drop shots and net AX88S>AX77 Both are superb rackets from yonex. However, switching between the 2 is very challenging in an instant (eg. when one string broke, and have to switch to either one). I always feel that AX88S is a tad faster than AX77 and this makes difference in timing the shots. I regularly faced this problem as i am always ahead of the normal timing when i switched from AX77 to AX88S. This probably due to shorter overall length of AX88S (or maybe i am wrong). Usually i will try to stick to one racket per session, warm up with only either one of them, and not switching between games. I guess you need to get opinions on AX88D, as in the forum there are plenty of positive reviews of AX88D on power play. But if you are constrained with budget, AX77 is still a good option. I hope the info above is helpful.
Thank you for the feedback, Carbonex_7 & Terraglow. Will use your input for consideration for my next racquet. Reading your replies made research further into Astrox 88: What is the difference between Astrox 88S and Astrox 88D? Because there is only one 'AX88' in Yonex's badminton racquet chart, indicating if there is any difference, is not a major one that both racquets are grouped together in the chart, no?
Not sure where you got your racquet chart from but here's the one with both of them.. And yeah the 88S is more to even balanced than I feel the chart seems to be..
Differences between 4U ax77 blue vs yellow - except for the obvious difference in color Are there any real proof that they are not the same?
I got myself a yellow, 4U Astrox77. String it at 26lbs using Aerobite. Tried it more than 10 times, still could not master it. 2 sets maximum, and that's it; I changed racket. I feel the racket is a little bit too heavy for me, despite it being 4U. My response was slow and inaccurate, especially in front of net. Now I am thinking of selling it. Is there anything I could do, to improve my response and accuracy i.e. reduce the strings tension, before I sell it for good?
Maybe you are not used to head heavy rackets? What were you using prior to the 77? I went from vtzf2 > ax77 > ax88s
