    I wish Yonex could have kept producing 2013 SHB-65x / SHB-87 ;)

    Re: rubber layer

I think some of the first shoes they did this on was the SHB01 and 02. From my experience the rubber lasts a lot longer than the leather does. That spot on the inside toe of your non racquet foot gets worn pretty fast with leather. But with rubber it tends to not wear anywhere near as quickly. So I assume that's the reason for it.

I didn't notice any discomfort from the rubber.

    @decoy
Thank you. But the INSIDE of the shoe isn't made from rubber also is it?

Not in those ones. It's just the regular felt or nylon or whatever it is.

So many things wrong with your situation. Long essay aside, let me do the bullet style:

-The rubber is used purely on the outside. Inside is still the same old same old. You are thinking rubber boots. No.
These rubber upper mesh have a breathable cloth/whatever is the normal on the inner. Same for the Aerus.

-Rubber top/side helps a crapton if you lunge correctly, ensuring the longevity of the shoe. My SHB01 lasted 1.5 years, my 03MD is on it's 18th month as we speak and going strong without repair at all.

-Stiffness depends on the thickness. Not the material. Case in point: 10cm leather vs 5mm rubber. Go figure.

    - The leather isn't real leather. It's PU leather.

-Yonex updates/changes shoes design/series every 2 years. FYI.

-It's THEIR. Not there. I can understand, English may not be your best and first language. And if you're wondering, not my first too.

-If 65Z sucked for you at the areas you complained, try the 65ZW aka 65Z Wide. You sound like you have wide feet. If 4E doesn't cut it then.... tough.

-You hate the CFZ based on the tongue and lacing pattern, have you actually seen how it works in actual practice? Seems like you didn't. Just lace up right and walk about, bend that foot a bit.

Alternatively, since you hate on the Stability and Comfort series, and claim the All-Around 65 is ****ed up, try Aerus3 for speed. Who knows, you may like it. If not, next brand please!

@Scott Kam your constant love/declaration about the 87/65X is really making me dig deep. Doing research now and on the verge of getting a 65/65EX to try soon since you never seem to be able to move on and SHB65/SHB65EX (NON-Z, previous one before the Z) is the exact same bottom and top sole design and the rake angle is the same.

Only 65Z changed the bottom sole. So I'm probably gonna try 65 series after my 03/02 dies.

    Esppy,
The shoes I tried after 2013 Yonex Shb-65X and my personal comments (all with SHB-65X as benchmark) are as follows:
    1. 2016(?) SHB-65 : a bit heavier
    2. Comfort Tour (3E) : heavier and stiffer (both upper and heel)
    3. 2017 SHB-65Z (JP) : stiffer heel cushioning and forefoot upper (toes get a bit tingled when bent)
    4. Comfort Z (3E) : heavier and stiffer heel cushioning
    5. Lining Ranger : mid-foot not securely locked/wrapped and heavier
    6. Mizuno Wave Fang Zero : mid-foot not securely locked/wrapped

@ Esppy Yes you are right, it is "their", not "there". Sorry about that.

I did try the Aerus 3 in a store and they were, in fact, REALLY comfy, I just think that the cushioning might be less, and I do need good cushioning for my older knees.

Wearing eclipsion z mid now, still think 65z were the best shoe I ever had.. eclipsion is heavier with good cushioning.

Bought the eclipsion x last weekend. Yesterday I wore them for 2,5 hours playing recreational matches. Still need some time to break them in, they felt a bit thight around some areas of the foot.

Very clean design using mostly white and some black colors. The use of yellow/lime for the laces and some writing on the shoe gives the shoes also a flashy look.

Coming from the comfort z this shoe feels a bit lighter but gives the same comfort and cushioning. Really like how the tongue is connected to the shoe with elastic bands and the pattern of the laces is simple so you can tie the laces easier than with the comfort z. Also I like the materials on the upper side of the shoe better (similar to shb 02) compared to the comfort z.

Surprisingly i had to go down a size (eur 45 instead of 46). I wear different soles then the fabric ones and had some space left at the toe area. I took the soles to a store in a city nearby and compared them with the fabric soles and it actually made a difference of 1 cm!

I am very glad with the shoes and I think it will give me faster footwork and more support for the next 10 or 12 months!

i think the ladies eclipsion z with black color is more masculine than the mens pink/black color way, may i ask if is it ok to use the ladies eclipsion z black for men?

    Your answer is here:
    https://www.badmintoncentral.com/fo...-jp-eclipsion-z-mid-jp-z-wide-ex-x-ex.179671/

    Impt technical notes:
Japan version doesn't discriminate the black for ladies and pink for males so...
BOTH colors come in 22cm to 29cm.
While the EX version, black likely goes to 26.5 or 27 cm max for ladies, and from 25 to 31cm (pink) for men's.

Also, why can't guys embrace pink?
    So stereotypical... Hahaha

I’ve gone from 03z to eclipsion x, the x definitely feels a chunkier shoe I don’t feel like I glide around court like in the 03z however I weighed them and the x are surprisingly around 200g lighter, I do have sorbothane insoles in the 03z but surely they don’t count for that much difference
