Press conference - post match with minions and coach Herry

He seemed to be quite sharp and see the shuttle more clearly more than most anybody else, judging on how he plays.

I don't think liu's racket touch the shuttle. anyway, I'm just glad that herry ip pulled him away when he was confronting the chinese pair, hope he's telling kevin not to do that again next time. at least he can control himself when liu yuchen was trying to tease him at 9-11.

I don't know. He seems to find it harder to let anything go with certain people and easily gets ticked off by tiny thing. He never has this kind of problem with any other pairs for quite a while, as far as I could remember.
The umpire had no idea what was going on there with all the loud noises. She would have warned him or done something about it if she had noticed Kevin there. The coaches had barely said anything when she asked them to get back to their seats.

He has problems with LiLiu, GohTan, almost all Danish players....thats not "no other pairs"....and it was the same cuntish arrogance again, like his opponents had no right to challenge when no fault is called.
I have to say that was unbelievably shitty umpiring right there, she really had no authority over the situation AND denied the challenge incorrectly (initial line call was out, so they challenged only when they understood the point was given to the minions).
Not that this was in any way important for the match, but I'm still shocked by the garbage quality of umpires at these supposedly massive tournaments.
Also, why is she wearing a freaking Christmas table cover

Some umpires were just terrible yesterday, in the xd match the umpire also denied tan/lai challenge even though tan raise his hand right away.

I honestly don't even see the harm in players taking a few seconds as long as they don't look towards their coaches or the coaches shout instructions. As long as it's still the player's own decision, let them take some time, whatever. It's even worse when an immediate challenge is denied. Imop tournament umpires need to get way more involved in overruling this kind of BS, like that time when the Chinese umpire denied Matsutomo/Takahashi their challenge at game point and such...
While it was almost a moot point in this match, others have been decided by single points, and there have been instances where bad umpiring almost decided matches unfairly (2008 AE MD SF for example)

26-0 in Istora? I remembered Mads Duo almost beat them last year, it was 20-20 in G2.

and in AsianGames, it was tight throughout against India,Japan. I guess everything is history.

Li/Liu is just too slow to the net, surrendering lots of initiative in MenDouble. they almost have to clear the shot high all the time. Chance goes begging.

I believe minions will take the flight tonight to Japan, as there is usually no day flight from jakarta.

When even zhang nan strugging to handle kevin at the net, what do we expect from liu yuchen honestly. their only chance against minions is when they play them in slow playing condition so they can rely on their defense.

Let's see if hendra could handle kevin this time.

I think Kevin can play better at Musashino than at Istora. He will make less errors there. Of course the opponent is tough so if they are lucky they can get to QF/SF in Japan.

Yeah but I doubt marcus can :D the draw for japan open is just ridiculous considering they're the number 1 pair in the world. but it would taste more sweet if they can win the title there.

Yeah MenDouble draw is simply ridiculous. Not just them, any seeded players can get a tough draw. ( Happened to KamuraSonoda this week even though its unexpexted). In Minions Japan case, i think its expected that they will trip somewhere.

I'd rather hope they will just trip on their way out off court after winning :p

But the rule is there from the beginning of the implementation of the hawkeye. The rule is players have to immediately challenge.
In this case, I don't think it is the fault of the umpire.

If the fans really prefer to see the truth and trust the hawkeye completely, then they should petition BWF to no longer have line judges and make it that hawkeye is needed for every point.

Congratulations to minions for defending their title Indonesia Open and for their first Super 1000 title of the year. I was really worried they would lose the match as Ahsan/Hendra was really playing so well and smartly. As Steen said, Kevin has been doing so well at the net and that was probably the key to their victory here.

    Phew..
Oh! And it's their first title win with the red jersey.

Finally they won a tournament again. I guess I just gotta accept if kevin is playing like s**t in the first round again, it's totally different kevin when it comes to the sf or the final. hopefully next week they can retain their title in japan too.
