He's playing in the lower tier of tournaments nowadays such as International Challenges or International Series. Notable achievement last year is a bronze medal at the SEA Games.
Still slogging on but no longer at the level he was when he won that WC bronze I'm afraid.
    Yep, Thailand Masters.

    I have to ask though
Does anybody knows whether he is doing something else besides being a professional badminton player nowadays?
Vietnam is not a very strong badminton country, and I can only imagine that the support from their government is not as much as Indonesia
For a player such his caliber, I don't want him to have such financial difficulties in the future

Vietnam didn't send their men's team for Badminton Asia Team Championships. Previously Vietnam didn't send any team (men's & women's) for 2016 edition of BATC.

And for the financial support, yes they had financial difficulties. Read a little story here. (Indonesia language only, sorry).
Currently, he's become a coach in a badminton team at Ho Chi Minh City.

@Sundis If his statement in BadmintonPlanet is true, he may retire after 2017.

Meanwhile, the 33-year-old Nguyen who currently serving as a player and a coach in the Ho Chi Minh City badminton team, said he will continue his professional career through 2017. [Source]

Yes I remembered I was the OP (Original Poster).:)
I'm happy to note that NTM has made a beautiful and perhaps the "hottest" catch for himself when he married this lady:

Vũ Thị Trang (born 19 May 1992) is a badminton player from Vietnam. She competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She was a bronze medallist at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore
In 2016, Vũ married fellow Vietnam badminton Olympian Nguyễn Tiến Minh.

Very nice tribute to a real fighter.
Especially liked the 19-20 point with Kashyap. That was TMN at high-speed!

NTM is scheduled to meet LD at this WC R1.

Will it be too much for him to beat the 2-time Olympic champ? o_O
