As has been said many times before. Physicality is the least of her problems and "hard work" is not going to help her. She's turning 23 this year and there is no indication that she suddenly is going to become one of the best players in the world, which she would have to in order to overtake AY and NO.

Hmmm, I guess she just doesn't have any materials needed to become top player. What is the chance of her becoming tge top player?

I do believe she has as much potential as Chen Yufei. However, she needs a mentality/attitude breakthrough to fully manifest her potential.

I hope you're right, because CYF is developing nicely.
As of now, she sounds like the new Sayaka Takahashi: left-hander, similar body-type...
    and same mentality/body-language/consistency issues.

Yes, ... and it looks as though he has become a grandfather. Ohori's older sister married Saito Taichi, one half of NTT-East's top MD pair, two or three years ago, and it is possible that the couple have a baby. That would make Ohori "Auntie Aya". :)

If i am right, Aya Ohori seems to have improved greatly in her defenses and is more willing to play the long game if needed. She has improved in several areas , (like moving the shuttle quite fast to where she wants the shuttle to go and making the opponent run a lot more for their points) while retaining sharp smashes. She is also making less and less unforced errors except for being prone to hitting under the net when the wind drifts is not favorable. Yes, I know she lost a lot of times but if she has the eagerness to challenge top players instead of being depressed when facing top players (sorry, but I can't help thinking of ... Nishimoto when I am saying this), Ohori can use her failures to improve herself greatly (and quickly I hope.)

Congratulation Aya Ohori for the win against RI!

Very well played. Solid defense and moving opponent from corner to corner while anticipating opponent's moves. Also, willing to dance with the opponent as long as needed. You have gained a new fan. Hope you can become a rising hero who is consistent.

Very good results finally winning against a top player. She is still rather young. All hope isn't lost for her. She might never be the #1 but she could win a few titles.

she has picked up speed over the last 9 months which has helped greatly, but it would be nice to have a tad more power to use as an occasional weapon. it would be the difference between regularly finishing in the semis instead of the qtrs.

She beat a player with fitness issues - who had a 2 hours final against Marin on Sunday - at a 300 tournament. Then she lost in straight games against #9 in the semis. Everything seems normal.

From my observation, Aya Ohori has improved much. Many times she already controlled the game well and put her opponent in difficult position but when she goes in to make what hopefully could be the final kill, she rush hurriedly and made own mistakes, end up losing the points. She can improve because she never gave up fighting throughout the match. Well, this is what I observed. She is improving ..... and because of her mental attitude I believe this match will help her improve even more.

You are right! She lost footstep and not keep a cool mind in deciding situations.

Guess and run hurriedly, then lost the point.

    my advice is "be patient".

Few matches back, in matches played until end of last year, I wouldn't know what to say. But this time, I can really see quality in her shots and in her movements, in defense, in moving opponents around the court, in taking shuttle early if needed, in controlling the speed of the shuttle, in making less errors and in attacks.

Maybe, her coaches are doing a good job in identifying her strength and weaknesses.
