Hi , just curious if you guys had any experience with strings stronger than ultimax 66 for smashing .... Exploring my options on ZF2. I usually string around 26 27 lbs Power and speed important .... sound not so much...
The obvious one would be Aerosonic. Li Ning No. 1 and Victor VBS 63 are also very solid in that area.
Currently I am exploring something thinner than aerosonic z58 and the results are less than desirable as though 30 to 40 percent of the power has been robbed from my previous months old UM66 I do have the pink AS on my nanoray 900 but haven't try it on zf2.
If you really want a big smash, I think a slightly thicker string gives more mass to the shot. I've always felt thinner strings give more power when doing short-power shots (drives etc) - repulsion. But to get BIG power on smashes thicker strings seem to have a higher power limit. Something like Li ning 5, bg80 thickness. Exact string type you need to decide for yourself, bg80 is hard, the kizunas/victors are softer, etc. Apparently BG65 above 30lb is really good for power, so maybe worth trying. I guess at massive tension it gets stretched into a kind of BG66?
Agree. I can't seem to smash properly with aerosomic. I like Bg80 but have settled on the 0.65mm g tone 5 as a compromise.
For AS on nanoray I can smash properly and fantastic sound too... So i thought by putting the z58 string on the zf2 i could get a aerosonic type of feel on my zf2.... but its just feels more like 6.5. 7/10 .... not 9/10 ... Like this guy in the video , not me. ...... he is using the same string just 1lb more than mine and we play about similar levels It sounds exactly like whats in the video .... and I can’t say i get fantastic smashes out it.....UM66 feels much better even when its mushy Aging. Have tried gtone 5 on nanoray too , its loud....
