The loss of her father last year might have been a factor, whether she put more into her training or motivated her to win the two tournaments. I hope we can see the strong Japanese and Chinese players return soon.

VA too strong for Vittinghus. I was worried about this finals for this reason. Let's see if Vittinghus can change it in the second set.

As for VA, he needs to win this, and preferably win this in 2 sets, if he wants to prove he is a contender for the gold at this year's Olympics. Even if VA won this in 2 sets, he is still not a favorite at the Olympics because of his poor H2H against Momota. But not winning this would be a bad omen for VA.

From what I've seen it's LY who needs to be a bit more stable, he goes for quite a few unnecessary risks. WCL has been great these last weeks, overall they've looked very strong. Great to see, they had shown potential before but not quite realized it. A very entertaining pair to watch imop.

VA has looked good in the last 2 weeks. However, let's see when Momota gets back onto the circuit, how VA performs against Momota. I think that will be VA's biggest wall, even if VA can maintain this form heading into the Olympics this year.

It's over. Sad to see Vittinghus gas out/injured and play similarly like Antonsen in the semi finals. But still, great run to make it to the finals, did us Badminton Central Forum members proud! Last couple of points were a formality really as the story was written on the wall.

Good showing by Axelsen, very commanding and never let up. A well deserved win.

Good win by Axelsen, he has played well these last two weeks. For sure an achievement to win two in a row.
However I feel that the commentators should have mentioned the special circumstances in order to put things into perspective.
Neither the Chinese nor the Japanese delegation was present at the tournament and I feel that is a relevant thing to mention.
I wasn't paying a 100% attention during Viktor's matches, so I may have missed if this was mentioned, my apologies if this was the case.
However, I am watching badminton tournaments for many years now and this has been my observation throughout:
I can't help but feel that many times when Gill and Morten Frost are commentating, there is a certain bias to be felt.
I as a spectator would wish for a more objective commentary.

A runner up ending for surprising finalist Hans Kristian Vittinghus who can’t deal with his tall fellow countryman, full attacking player Viktor Axelsen, 11-21 / 7-21, this match looks like sparring partner exhibition, completely one sided clash as former World Champion is too strong in all aspects for Vittinghus.

Axelsen underscores his status as one of consistent MS players, second best behind Kento Momota.

Especially his boogeyman, Kento Momota as Chen Long and Shi YQ don’t pose major threat for Axelsen.

Mixed doubles offers the most interesting match of five finals, home favorites Puavaranukroh/Taerattanachai continue their winning streak to quell KOR lefthanders stiff resistance, 21-16 / 22-20. Both pairs trading fast attacking shots, Taerattanachai is slightly better than Chae YJ at net area. Thai duo alongside Jordan/Oktavainti become arch-rivals for China top two pairs Zheng/Huang and Wang/Huang, interesting to wait how their rivalry in upcoming tournaments.

Well, as predicted four repeat winners, a quite rare circumstance in BWF top tier tournaments. Just curious whether they still produce excellent run next week to close 2020 BWF Tour season.

He need to keep it up then, because I remember whenever indonesian MD play lee/wang the coach always said they need to target WCL more both in the defense and in the flat game. I think he has improved his front court game though, much more decisive.

Marin seems to be in a league of her own at the moment. For anyone that's watched the amazon prime doc about her there are clues as to why. During lockdown her training didn't stop and she even had two coaches/trainers overseeing her via zoom while she was at home.

I don't really like her on court persona but I've gotta respect her and her coaches' work ethic. Seems like a lot of of players have either become rusty or took it too easy during lockdown.

What's more impressive with Marin is badminton is not a popular sports in Spain
where she find quality sparring? just fitness and skills training alone made her play so well?

where is the rest of Spain players?

yeah, she is supernatural. cant find or think of someone like that. Denmark still have many players, cant see that in Spain.

just her alone, wins more titles than INA + MAS + IND combined these weeks.

denmark open, no easy blow mili while marin need 3 set to beat beiwen when beiwen out of gas in set 3. The next tourney marin lost to gilmour. It showed how on form no and off form marin. Who to beat marin? According to player's form but i would call rat. Somehow rat counter marin, no matter which form, she can always bring trouble to marin
