Yup I dont know what PV did in England, but she's nowhere near CM, TTY, RI, these three are at a different level altogether. As for KS I can only wish him luck in whatever he is trying right now to be. Sent from my SM-G985F using Tapatalk
Only aces the Indian team has right now are Satwik Chirag(we would have to wait and see how they fair against the chinese japanese and sukamuljo almost half the top competition was not there in Thailand), Sameer Verama and HS Prannoy. He(HSP) played much better than any other compatriot in Thailand cour 2, still has that attacking play (I doubt Srikanth can win against this guy) Sent from my SM-G985F using Tapatalk
You mean Sameer? He is attacking a bit more proactively now, defense as usual is decent, he has a lot of potential he need to work a lot and also be confident.
Sorry fr the confusion, I meant Prannoy. Verma needs to tone down his mistakes, that match against antonsen, I guess the 3rd set was filled with errors from both players ( I know they were out of breath but still) Sent from my SM-G985F using Tapatalk
As an ardent fan and follower of the game it is very disappointing to not have a single top level player from the country of 1.3B. I (and we) will still watch good matches, support our favorite players like Yuta, Ginting, Momota, Tai. But maan!! what a sad state Indian badminton dropped to, I think this is the lowest low in the history of lows in this past decade. The sadder part is there is no strong system for young and coming players, basically there is no strong pool like what dravid created in cricke, not much hope in near future. May be 2010-2020 is just a tiny spark that faded off quickly.
This is absolutely true and a very sorry state for Indian badminton fan. You are right..creating a system in place like cricket is the need of the hour I guess. This would also mean spending money by association to groom the next set of players and exposing them with International tournaments, spending on their travel, training etc (like BCCI) and which looks like not happening from the outset.
PBSI (Indonesian association) works like BCCI, primarily BCCI and PBSI get a lot of money because they represent most popular national sport. People in India love badminton but BAI should try yo monetize more effectively, PBL is good but Idk who gets the money. BAI should monetize more somehow.
I was frustrated whole week, we all were, but this one match PV made me recovery from all that, the courage and fight are just awesome, very heartening display. PV is clearly not in her best fitness but this is a match worth cherishing.
Badminton is 2nd popular sport in India but the difference between cricket and badminton is huuuge (in trump's tone) Today hotstar live view count is 10K but for cricket it usually is 1M which is 100x more. Badminton still has a lot of scope to develop.
ISL has avg hotstar count of 50k. In that matter Sindhu match hotstar attendance was fine coz most people must be watching it in TV and not online. I don't remember what was hotstar attendance in Sindhu vs Marin OG final.
Except for few players , all the top indian players participated Orleans masters 2021. See what happened, only one unseeded Rank.no.240 or something level MD alone entered the finals. That is strange . India usually known outside as Singles specialist. Not anymore. Not even a single Singles player is doing good in the top level that will bring you medal @ Tokyo. Really really in bad condition now.
Krishnaprasad Garaga/ panchala partnered together for the first time to play Orleans and unfortunately, ended up as Runner up against seasoned English pair . Lost but not without fighting. They lost it with the scores 21-19, 14-21,19-21. Better luck next time. They are really good.
I wouldn’t write off PVS but the men’s singles team is totally different and seems to have imploded. Very sad.
Men's singles is the heart of the badminton, atleast to me MS and MD are crucial because they are on a different level compared to other disciplines. Very sad state of badminton in India, and PV's success in in one way blinding people and officials from getting a look at the glaring reality.
Guys!! Let us take a break from following Indian badminton, great win by cricket team against the bees today. May be I'll be following cricket IPL more often this time and take a break from Indian badminton. Go CSK!!
But she seems to be low in her confidence now. No results so far. Except for few semis and 1 final(just to get destroyed by Marin).
Indian open postponed due to spike of cases in Delhi. I wonder if this is Delhi open or Indian open, they can easily find other cities in India where the spike is significantly lower and manageable. This is pure Indian competence by BAI and India means north kind of mentality.
I think this might be quite hard because you might need support staff with the experience of running the tournament coming from other parts of the country. The new case numbers in India look really bad and much worse than in the first wave. It’s going to be a difficult two months for India. Sort Covid out first, badminton can come later.
With the current surge in cases, I don’t think any city in India is “safe” to hold a sporting event. Moreover, BAI doesn’t seem to have the money or the Infrastructure to create a covid safe bio bubble like in cricket. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
