I am moving to monterey from bay area. Is there a group of players in Monterey or Salinas? Are people playing now that some counties are loosening up?
Haven't heard any feedback. Are there players out there in Monterey and Carmel area? I just read that Monterey Sports Center will reopen on 3/22.
This is reply I got from Monterey Community Center this morning (3/19): Unfortunately badminton is not allowed until the County is in the Orange Tier. I think we will move into the Orange Tier very quickly but I obviously do not have a date. Once in the orange tier we will have designated times for singles badminton only. Typically it is for a few hours in the morning but we haven't made a schedule yet.
Updates from Monterey Sports Center regarding badminton. 4/22 "Badminton singles is allowed now. We are trying to find a designated time." Love to get some good players! I have been playing for close to 20 years, and consider myself strong flight B player.
Monterey Sports Center is open for badminton, singles only. Monday/Wednesday/Saturday 7:30am-10:30am. It is for singles play only. You must wear your mask at all times. and you must bring your own equipment. We can set up three courts. So, 6 people can play at a time. Capacity is not an issue as long as the spectators are wearing masks and stay 6 feet apart. $10 if you are a City of Monterey resident and $12 if you are not.
