Sure, based on statistic, minions shouldve beaten Chia - Soh easily, right?

The Minions reminds me of Koo-Tan. Spectacularly stylish players but ultimately choked in majors. At least both have the ALL England to boast. No WC and No OG. Kevin may still have a chance with another partner.

Looking at the MD standards this past few years , I would say have regressed a bit. The fact that Hendra and ahsan are still top goes to show the lack of good power pairs recently. When Hendra - AHsan were in their prime in 2013-2015 there were several pairs who could trouble them at the top and even semi finals places werent guaranteed for them during that period. and they didnt make it through to the quarter finals in Rio.

yeah but this is olympics, and we know how minions perform in major event so it's not really that surprising tbh especially after they lost to wang/lee in the group stage

ahsan/hendra are 3 times world champ so don't even compare them to minions when it comes to big events

If this is the case, should not have this Olympic.

Apart from other things did anyone else feel FLICK serve proved costly for Japan.

    In XD
Huang's flick serve got her so many points from 2nd Set against Arisa and for that matter even Yuta could not return well against a couple of Huang Flick serve.

    In MD
Hiroyuki was particularly unable to execute his Flick serve well.

Will this affect both MAS coaches' employment in MD and XD? I think their only weakness is not learning Japanese.

At least koo/tan can get a silver, minions can't even get a medal at WC/OG after being world number 1 for how many years...4 ? just dissappointing.

Yeah MD standards definitely have regressed but tbf I feel like ahsan/hendra also played better these last 3 years compared to 2014-2016, they're much more complete as a pair now and they improve some of the things that I think was a big weakness back then, like defense for example.

    This may sounds harsh.
But it looks like the karma of Kevin's years of bad attitude has finially caught up to him.
Poor Gideon for enduring Kevin's bad attitude all these years.

Such a shame marin couldn't get the same karma as kevin  instead she won 3 WC and 1 OG, while the one with good attitude like TTY can't even sniff a medal at WBC/OG

Wish Marin the best recovery and can get back on court soon.
But mind you, she has had 2 ruptured ACL in both of her legs since 2019. So there's that.

I don't know why the Indonesia badminton association could send players off to the Olympics being absolutely unfit like this (Jordan, Oktavianti, Gideon). While the other players (especially Chinese) are probably in the best shape they could ever be their entire lives.
    My gosh!
