I bet everyone here can't wait to see the heroic, battle-to-the-death effort that He Bingjiao is sure to produce in the semifinals.

You summed it up on the mark. Precisely, Okuhara played very well, esp in G1, but , to my amazement, He Binjiao came back strongly the next two sets to outplay one of the two best runners cum retrievers, the other one being Akane Yamaguchi.

In fact, Okuhara can unleash her attack too when needed, she's not just a relentless retriever who can outrun and get everything back to frustrate her opponent, which was exactly what happened in G1. However, to HBJ's credit, she managed to step up her game to pressure Okuhara into capitulation with superior shotmaking coupled with the requisite endurance, esp in the latter half of G3 , I wonder where she got her energy reserves from.

Too bad, HBJ and her fellow compatriot CYF will be squaring off next for a place in the gold medal match while awaiting the other finalist. May the best player of the Tokyo Olympics take the crown.

Cruel side of sports rearing its head once more. For me, this is very much a final or semi-final kind of match, yet it happend in the quarters and ensured one of them wouldn't medal....both of them are among my favorite players and I would've loved to see both of them get a medal.
I'm looking forward to the day this is available to watch here, must've been a nail-biter.

lots of fast drives in this match. China coming up on top marginally. but that made the difference.
