Who would have thought that Malvika Bansod will represent India in both Sudirman Cup and Uber Cup respectively? Will she deliver? She may have chances against Finland, but no way she could beat Thailand WS and Chinese WS (Sudirman Cup) In Uber Cup , she may have chances against Spain and Scotland, but not Thailand. Thailand is way stronger in WS . They have atleast 4 or 5 strong WS, if i am not wrong/
I am eager to see how Malvika fares against Thai and Chinese players. She was undefeated in BAI trials and beat some pretty decent players easily. Now she will be up against top players. Can she cause some upsets? That's what I wanna know. I am also eager to see how Kiran fares.
I am sad that things have not gone well for another protege Lakshya sen. But he should have stayed till the end and see how it goes in the selection trials. But it seems like he doesn't care these Team events.
Has Lakshya ever been selected for a team event and not attended like Srikanth Kidambi in 2018 Thomas? Since Lakshya lost 1 match in group stage the highest rank possible was 12. He stood no chance of being selected for the team. The format of WD allowed players to lose 1 match in group stage and still progress to top 3 like Tanisha/Rutaparna, Ashwini/Sikki and Gayatri/Treesa lost 1 match in group stage.
I mean that these rules are formed for all of them , not only for few, if i am not wrong. Sen is the only person who has highest world ranking among all those attended the selection trials. Everyone would have expected him to win the only one player who was in his group to advance to the knock out stage. But he missed it. So, we can't blame any of them right.
I have no problem with Lakshya being part of the trials and losing his match. Everyone except Sindhu, Satwik/Chirag should have been part of the trials. I have a problem that Sai Praneeth and Srikanth Kidambi were exempted from the trials. When we know that they haven't had much match practice and have been losing in early rounds. This was a good way to test form and give the top 2-4 Ranked players some match practice and confidence of reaching Rank 1-4. If Praneeth and Srikanth were part of the trials that would have been fair to all the players.
