Sparkly string? I'm amazed at the condition of the grip too. Shame to remove both to make it playable. Any idea what tension it can take? Rated 20 but safe to 22 I think, based on cab21.[IMG][IMG]

I remember @Cheung used to string them up to 30lbs, might be the CN version though.

Really? Wow. It's a cab 18 btw. Not stated above.

Cab 18 and cab 16 never really caught on.

Cab20 however is a different beast and yes, CN version can be strung to 30lbs

That's true. This racquet definitely can't go to 30lbs.

Those days 24lbs was considered a high tension

I actually did 24lb. Usually 22 max on something of this age. The owner did the double thumb press and did indeed say it felt quite high.

That’s a real beauty, but with something of that vintage, even if it’s mint condition, I wouldn’t want to string it too high a tension. 20 - 22 lbs will be about right.

The strings will pull into the frame itself at higher tension. I had that happen with a couple of carbon graphite racquets back in those days. I found 24lbs with a stretchy string like Bg65 was ok. Can’t recall the string now but another one wasn’t so stretchy and the racquet didn’t survive

Oh crumbs. Do you reckon it's worth a recall and do again at 22?

The racquet I used that time was a prokennex 787 which couldn’t tolerate a Kevlar string (I remember the material now). I also used a drop weight machine that time.

I never touched a cab18 but that racquet never caught on like the cab20 (which is a very robust racquet).

If it’s okay with you, I would restring lower given nobody know too much about the racquet and it’s rarity
