Actually, I curious to see what upsets Kevon Cordon can cause here this time. If only he were five years younger....
This is the first time I see Nishimoto tending to make his opponent run out of energy. Yeah. The first time. if Nishimoto can open "his mind" (strategy) soon, at 22 years old, I think he can win some tournaments, but now, quite late.
Umpire forgot to give a point to Kidambi after he won the line call. It's rare that an Umpire makes a mistake. But nowadays, we could see them doing so more often.
Not sure why BWF does not fix the sound issue. The audio sounds way short of professional quality. Kudos for showing all matches from two courts! But please fix the sound issue.
Plus fresher stamina after nearly two-month break since DEN Open 2021. Another good result of CHN MS scored by Zhao JP who outlasted world #12 Wang TW last night.
Chen yu fei and syq must be injured. Sad that their names are not in the list. Ws many Thai and ms China meeting each other. China looks hungry. Last hurrah for gvs and twk.
Seems retirement is still far from the veterans, today's first round meeting will pit two seasoned campaigner, 2013 World Championships bronze medalist and 38 years old Nguyen Tien Minh against 35 y.o. Hans Kristian Vittinghus, the Dane is favoured to progress. Looking at MS upper half draw, Kenta Nishimoto has good prospect to clinch medal here if he could perform much better than regular tournament, similar pattern in AG 2018 when he had favourable draw at that time. Today's big match certainly Viktor Axelsen-Loh Kean Yew rematch, all eyes will pay attention whether the Dane can create history here. It's long time that the Olympic Champion Zhang Nan shows up again since All England 2020 second round defeat to the Minions, China needs time to build solid MD combination post Li Junhui called quit last month. The problem appears when they're very selective to choose which tournament to participate, luckily BWF world ranking is still freezed until unknown date.
China team looks super strong. It will be interesting to see if this championship is remembered as the one where new stars were born. I am also looking forward to a possible Anonsen-Axelsen match. In the past when they played each other without coaches VA had a tendency to "lose the plot" without coaching. Now as I understand Antonsen will have staff to help him.
He won't. At WC, the players are selected by their national federation. VA is selected by the Danish federation to represent Denmark and will therefore enjoy all the services/staff that the others Danish players do, including coaches. As usual, when two Danes play each other, there won't be coaches. Whether they will have coaches or not if they play in a normal tournament is another question. And an interesting question. I don't know the answer. Also..in the past maybe, but VA won 3 of their 4 last encounters (not counting European Championships).
Akira Koga/Taichi Saito beat Di Zi Jian/Wang Chang easily. The only INA representative Dejan Ferdinansyah/Serena Kani fulfill what they come for, beating the Irish opponent in straight-sets. I don't think they can beat the seeded and more experienced German pair Mark Lamsfuss/Isabel Lohau.
Did heo kwang hee withdrew as well? He’s not injured is he? Korean doesn’t seem to have a lot of representatives
Come on, Loh! Make the draws wide open for Men's Singles. Viktor is getting unsettled now. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
